Forums - Gaming - What would make you buy the competetions machine?

I currently am an owner of a Wii and a 360, and I feel that those two consoles give me all the gaming I need. I have played some of the top flight PS3 titles, but I just don't feel that splitting my gaming time/funds between 2 HD consoles is a good idea for the time being (until prices come down to $130 - $150, then I will have the PS3 as well). But there is one scenario that would make me run out and put my marraige on the line and buy a PS3 today:

Bioware announces that they are almost done with KoToR 3 and it will be a PS3 exclusive.

I realize that it is pretty unlikely, but if it were to happen I would B_E_L_I_E_V_E in my favorate console franchise and Sony could bank one more PS3 sale. I'd still keep my 360 though, gotta have my ME2! (Can you tell I'm a Bioware fan?)

So if you are a single HD system owner and are pretty content at the moment, what could happen that would make you change it up?

I just own a Wii. I would never buy a 360 due to my position on Microsoft's Windows business, but I would buy a PS3 if there was a game for it that could match Mario, Metroid or Pokémon in game design, music, and attention to detail while not attempting to be cinematic or realistic.

I'm a PS3 owner, as well as a Wii owner, although the wii I got through a Panasonic HDtv promotion, but I'm getting ride of the wii, haven't even opened it. I've played the wii my sister owns, and well....suffice to say that their isn't anything on it that would make me want one, nor keep the one I have.

As for the 360, I'll get one once RRoD is some what resolved to the point where it's almost none issue, there are a few games I'd like to get my hands on, like Gears, alan wake, splinter cell conviction...but I hate unreliable hardware, so far none of my console have failed or given me issue, not even my PS2 which is now over 6 years old and working with out an issue, and after knowing so many people who's 360 has broken has kept me back.

So there ya have it folks.

I own a Wii and PS3, and I don't think I would ever buy a X360. I have way more games for my Wii and play it a lot more, and I've haven't bought a single full price PS3 game. The only two that were full price were given to me as gifts, and I can't convince myself to buy one at full price either. But I'll buy tons of Wii games at full price no questions asked (mostly Nintendo titles).

So, unless gaming prices came way down, I don't have the time nor money for another console and there isn't enough that interests me on the PS3 or X360 to ever really steal my time. If it wasn't for the Blu-Ray player, I probably wouldn't even have had a HD system.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I own a Wii, a 360, a DS, and a low-end gaming PC.

I do not think of the PS3 or the PSP or any other system as "competition". They're just systems I can't afford when I already have too many games to buy.

What would make me buy the machines I don't own? Winning the lotto.

I own a PS3 and a high end PC so there is really no reason for me to buy an X360... on top of that I don't really like the controller and don't want to pay for online play.

I might buy a Wii if there was a huge price drop and it was bundled with a nice exclusive... but I currently don't have enough time to play all the games I want so it's hard to justify another console.

$ 99 to 149 and 5 go 10 games i can't get on my other systems. The DS is getting awful close.

Well, since the only company who's games I like just a little more than Nintendo games is Blizzard, I'd say Blizzard suddenly starting to make all their games exclusive for that competing console would sway me over to buy it.

That, or me somehow getting loads of cash to burn.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I am a gamer.

There is no "competition's machine" to me. I strive to play excellent games and have fun on every platform regardless of maker. I see through fanboy arguments to find the value in every console and platform that has great games to offer me. I am not limited by company biases but by my own lack of free time.

I will continue to seek great gaming experiences on all platforms, because I am a gamer.

i have a wii/ps3/360/ds/iphone/pc and i'm giving serious consideration to a psp just for valkaria chronicles 2. believe me, that is just waay too many machines to give all of them the love they deserve. in my case it's the 360, pc, ds that doesn't get much love at all.
