Finally IGN put the Review

7.5 Presentation
Unique story and setting. Compelling cinematics. Limited selection of options. Dated controls and level designs.
7.5 Graphics
Good art and technology, for the most part. Some wow moments. Stiff character animation, invisible walls, and it's always dark.
8.0 Sound
Atmospheric sound effects and music combine for a moody experience.
7.0 Gameplay
Fun and occasionally frightening. Gameplay controls and levels designs are adequate, but dated.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
The single-player romp is fun while it lasts, but there's no reason to return for another climb.
7.5
Good OVERALL

The IGN review write-up was immensely positive. Way more than the score signifies.



"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

They are satisfying both types of readers. The people who don't want the game to be good and wouldn't read the review past the score, and those who want to know if they should buy the game or not. If the scale wasn't as scewed as much, I would think the score was a great one, but seeing that the value of a 10 game is much lower than it use to be it is far from qualified by the sound of their review.

Now the Game is in the Stores. Het guys, did you see a lot of copies on the shelves?
Maybe in two weeks we can check the first sales numbers for the game...

Uh, I graduated high school in the early and, depending on where you went to school, a 65 (in public) and a 70 (in private/Catholic) was failing, so you must be *really* old or went to school somewhere that practiced serious grade inflation.

Hello,

 

I think Cursed mountain must have a better review. For me, that's 8.5...The history is really interesting if you like These types of legends...The Atmosphere is so special...

Thank to Deep Silver for a lot of originality into a survival-aventure game !

I visited three game stores yesterday, and only one of them had this game in stock. They had a good supply, though.

And I'm afraid this game is going to go the way of Deadly Creatures.
