Okami Sequel in the Works?
Capcom files trademark for 'Okamiden,' but what's it for?
US, August 25, 2009 - Despite strong all-around review scores and IGN's Game of the Year 2006 Award, Okami couldn't get gamers to put down the cash on Capcom's Zelda-esque adventure.
But continued fans of the title may want to cheer up, as there seems to be, well, some kind of Okami news. Capcom recently filed a trademark for 'Okamiden," which as Siliconera points out, could be short for "Okami Gaiden" (Okami Sidestory) or "Okami Densetsu."
Okami for Wii still hasn't been released in Japan, and is currently planned for an October 15 launch. It's possible this trademark has something to do with that, too.
There were, however, remarks from Capcom weeks ago about the company planning a sequel that will "blow your mind." And while many concerns will be raised due to the closure of the game's original developer, Clover Studios, let's wait to cross that bridge until we get there, ok?
