People will want the slim...as the whole idea  and image around PS3 is based around "new tech" and "cutting edge". So what do you do when your PS3 is no longer new tech? You sell it cheap and get the latest model of couse...

But just an FYI the slim has the same amount of usb ports as the newer 80GB sku. (2) But if you need more then 2, you can always get a usb hub with at least 4 more slots on it for 5 to 10 bucks at Radioshack or where ever.

I know, USB ports are no big deal...to be honest i always hated console redisigns unless they are dramatically improving something.

Like NES redisign in 1993, amazing features like improved controllers and toploader for cartriges...great job nintendo

Genesis redesign, we lost the heaphone jack...FU sega.

Snes redesign, emabarssement...FU nintendo

PS1 redesign, we lost serial port and the ability to connect multiple PS1 systems and play some games (like Wipeout) in 2 players...FU Sony

PS2 redesign, we lost the hard drive slot...FU Sony.

See where I'm coming from?  Its always the little things that get taken away(other than NES 2 which was awesome). PS3 slim has no more Lynx capabilities. Most people don't know or care...but still, feature taken away is a feature taken away
