Forums - Microsoft - Elite Purchase Questions

I dunno.. thought it had to be offical MS stuff like all the rest. And the first reply i got on the matter said that it didnt support 3rd party stuff.

"- Elite comes with built in WiFi right?
No, you have to buy an M$ adaptor (I don't think you can use 3rd party ones)"

I believe all routers support past protocols. So b supports a, g supports b,a and n supports all of them.

Yeah i know, but my appartment wont really allow it.. id have to draw the cable across the floor, or get a 20m (70 feet.. i think thats a right conversion) ethernet cable.

Oh cool if theres a 2 game bundle for 299, cus only a console for 299 seems a bit "expensive" if i can get the same console but without a HDD for what, 149$? 199$? Still think ill be buying an Arcade model (or Pro, now that you mention it).

The reason i was interested in the Elite to begin with was because i thought it had built in WiFi and was pretty mych the same as the PS3. But i've come to learn that an Arcade (or Pro) might be a better investment. Well, come to think of it.. ill need a Pro.. since i need to download some demos which cant has to be installed. And since the Xbox is suppose to have more demos then the PS3, it seems stupid to not take advantage of that.

But that WiFi is killing me.. isnt it very over priced? I think its like 90$ here in sweden. Mightve droped in price since i last heard about it.. dunno.

And about being banned from XBL, i have alot of friends thats hacked their console, pretty much anyone with an xbox over here has a hacked unit (or it might just be that i know a bunch of shady people :D), but they all have been online with their xbox, so there must be a way to get around it.

I don't want to call you a liar, but what apartment do you live in that your router is 70 feet away from your TV? My house, which is an average 1300 square foot house, is only about 45 feet long front to back. If this is really the case, you probably have the money to afford a $100 adaptor, because 70 foot long apartments are called "penthouses".
I thought I was going to have to go with a 25 footer, but I found out that vents go all the way through walls, so I got away with an 8 footer.

20 meters = 65.6167979 feet

Its not that my router is 70 feet away from my tv. But i'd have to nail it along side the "strip"(?) (translation?), the wooden thingy that goes along the bottom of the wall. Otherwise i'd have to have the cable across the hallway and through the livingroom. My appartment is 775 square feet according to this conversion table: http://www.metric-conversions.org/cgi-bin/util/conversion-chart.cgi?type=3&from=3&to=11

So no.. im not a liar :D

Koweicki - Yeah, ive been around for quite some time, so i do know of the big black box. But will it work for the 360 aswell? Are you using one?

To back him up I used a 100ft cable from my PC to entertainment center for video and audio from the PC. It travels around the outside wall of my apartment and over 1 door. It is only a 2 bedroom apartment and isn't large by any means, but the PC and TV couldn't possibly be farther apart

Anyways, you can buy an ethernet cable for dirt cheap especially if you can make it yourself, you just need to know someone who has the tool.

As someone else mentioned. If you hack your system, and connect to live. Your system will be locked.

Ive googled ethernet bridges and 360, but all i find are help threads and fail threads about people not being able to connect, and/or that you cant use certain bridges. And when i visited some sites to look for prices all i found was prices in the same range as the official MS one. But then i might aswell buy that one and skip all the hassle of trying to get the bridge to work.

Which one are you using?
