Usally ships in 1 to 2 months ! it's awesome, very good for Ps3 Slim Debut.

Hmmm, I did not expect that, but I assume slight stock shortages make it seem like everyone is going mad over it, even if it is just because Sony have slightly under shipped it

But i believe, sony tries to pull a Wii somehow. U know the
"Demand is so high, we cant keep up with shipping"- interest creation tactics.

Or it just sells like hotcakes...

Sony began producing them in April when the first photos leaked out of the factory,they have alot in stock.

I think there is a very high demand and that why there are shortages but it is also because Sony have a big stock but haven only started to ship to retailer's and so they retailers are sold out so fast

@ solid_snake, I thought it was July, but they certainly have plenty stockpiled

Amazon said in their stock reports that video games have been an especially bad sector for them this year, so they likely reduced their order so as to not get stuck with extras.

It's not that unbelievable, considering:

1- We don't know how many units Amazon had.
2- It's the launch... of course there will be high demand in the beginning.

I'd say it will be unbelievable if this is the case for the rest of the year.

Depends on how many they had, as others have said between allocations and commitment it is extremely likely the numbers are relatively small. Hopefully that lead time for replenishment is become nobody has calculated it due to it being so new. 6 to 8 week lead time would be bad.

I don't get why people have this idea that Nintendo created shortages on purpose. They increased Wii production very quickly, from 1 million in the beginning, then to 1.8 million and then to 2.4 million per month. As far as I know that's the highest production speed any console has ever had.

It's not that simple to increase production quickly... you need to make new contracts with each and every single supplier, and it takes time for all the suppliers to shift their production to Nintendo.
