Forums - Sony - 10 Reasons Why the PS3 Slim Will Save Sony

Half of them are good reasons, the other half are grasping for straws.

It'll help Sony. To save Sony, MS and Nintendo will have to go out of business.

I think it's best that you stay away from the Sony forum. You never contribute anything productive...

All I'm saying is that, since it's still selling at a loss, the PS3 slim, while certainly boosting sales, won't save Sony this generation. When a company has to rely on sales of accessories, games, etc. to make a profit, it's a sign that they're not doing well.

And for the record, I'm considering getting a slim.

Actually I take back what I said earlier.

Other than the reduction in size / power consumption. Every single "reason" why the Ps3 slim will save Sony are reasons the PS3 phat would save Sony, none are slim-unique.

The only reasons that matter:

1. Its cheaper to make

2. It will sell for a lower price

3. It is smaller, which will help in crowded places like Japan.

Incidentally, because sony had to do something pretty radical like redesign the PS3 in order to trim costs leads me to think that the price won't go much lower than this for the lifetime of the PS3....mabey to $250 (or $230 if we are lucky and have a cheapcheap version with less memory and no wireless).

sony is still losing money on Slim, but thanks to overpriced PSP GO they will make about 100+$ on each PSP GO sold to customer who were just ripped of by buying this overpriced handheld. they also make profit selling ps2s and normal psps.

Yawn, it's been said time and time again, Sony isn't getting much from the PSP Go! mark up. Retailers will be.

some of those points are kind of dumb, like it having a matte finish.

it's promising anyway that the media is taking an interest in the slim and are giving usually positive feedback.

I actually like the new finish better than the smooth piano black look...i also agree with mtofu that the finish thing really wont make a whole lot of difference either way

If you label your article "10 reasons why the PS3 Slim will save Sony", shouldn't it actually contain 10 reasons the PS3 Slim will save Sony?

How is "Losing the option to install other operating system's is irrelevant" a reason the PS3 Slim will save Sony? If I launched a lawnmower that didn't have an MP3 jack, would that be a reason for it to appeal to people?

I agree with the general sentiment that the PS3 Slim will be much helpful for Sony, but that's not really a very good article.

It seems the writer of the article lost focus after the 1st few reasons.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
