So what do you think the order of Nintendo franchises are in popularity. Mines is 1. Mario 2. Pokemon 3. Zelda 4. Metroid 5. Starfox 6. F-zero 7. Fire Emblem 8. Pikmin I know im missing some but whatever.
Well if your looking at sales... I'd say your list is correct.
But "popularity" is hard to judge. Popular amongst everyone in the world? Popular among gamers? Popular among the so-called "hardcore"?
"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. Mario is the most known video game character and i know many people who refer to video games as mario..they are like do you have mario...and i am like yeah i have video games...they are like fine we will play mario...

Alas, Metroid isn't even close to the top 10

Yeah Scottie, but the Wii series has a lot of room to grow. Wii Sports alone could easily sell 100 million plus by the end of the gen. Then you add in Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Music, hell even Wii Chess (if it ever sees the light of day). It will be a big series on just one platform in one generation.
I agree that it will be a close thing by the end of the gen. The Wii series has WF+ coming, and WS, WSR, WF and WP all still have a lot of life left in them. But Mario just has so many more games announced but unreleased

Mario and Sonic @ the Winter games, DS and Wii
Western Release of Mario and Luigi
Later in the gen we shall certainly see Mario Party 9.
