Forums - Nintendo - 2 Wii consoles for some Houses? Thanks to Wii Fit?

This is just anicdotal...  Not even that, more speculation and hearsay...

Wifey seems to be into the Wii Fit and both of us are into the fitness side of things, (In fact we are currently in a competition with a couple friend of ours in relation to loosing weight (Biggest looser game type thing)).

Anyway, She was looking into Wii fit and was Very dissapointed it is not multiplayer (2 Wii Fit boards not one person at a time - Is this correct or is there multiplayer???). She has been talking about it and regards to how cool it would be if we could both be playing at the same time, hence her dissapointment with only 1 player.

It wasn't until I suggested that we would have to get another Wii to play together... that she, and to my suprise, was all for the idea... as long as Wii Fit turns out to be an awsome Fitness and Health game, We could very well be getting a second Wii.

Now this is her plan - she came up with this by herself:

We have 2 identicle TV's ATM.  She would move both these into our Spare room turning it into our training room. (With a walker, and a bike). Both Wii's with Wii Fit will be hooked up and we will be playing the game together side by side on the 2 consoles.

I'm not too sure how this would work out, if it would ever happen, or if this is just spur of the moment excitment and thinking that will never actually come about, however My Wife is not big on games but she is really looking into Wii Fit.  Considering SHE is the one planning out our entire Wii Fit Training room is definatly an interesting concept. One I thought I'd share.

So My thought is that if families or couples are looking into a way to train together while at home and having fun, and Wii Fit turns out to be a supurb sleeper hit of a fittness game, then could/would families purchase multiple Wii's to train together.  Of course Not a huge amount will but will some families? (Especially at current price points - But what about when price comes down).

Another though would be would Gym's have a Wii Fit corner too?  That's something I never considered until my Wife started to show me her idea for our training room... LOL.

What do you all think?

If you don't mind spending the price of an PS3, then it's a great idea!

true. It would be expensive... although so is Gym membership... maybe not so much but still if you already own 1 Wii, then what are the chances of a second? (to get 2 Wii's and Wii Fits at the same time would be crazy). But like I said, I'm the gamer, she's the one with the idea.

Again, it may never happen for us but I wonder if others have had the same thoughts.

You could get DDR for Wii and spend $20 on a second mat. But, the idea of buying another Wii is a much better one :) You should also have bowling tournaments at your house.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

How about you take turns, and just jeer the other person on while they are playing?

It looks like a single player game for good reasons IMO :)

(Ninty doesn't want to start selling Balance boards on their own now either)

it probably is a good idea if you start having kids.
it's really hard to get them to move sometime, no?
or at least, keep them in the same spot for a while :)

I love that site. This kind of stuff is what I love most about what Nintendo's doing with DS & Wii.

Almost brings a tear to my eye, man. *sniff*

BTW: fkusumot blames WiiFit.

I wouldn't be surprised at the 2 wiis for one house thing. Cheapest system, and I have a wii, and my sister wants Wii fit. So her BF will probably buy her a wii and wii fit

I think (and previously posted) that getting more than one Wii in households is totally in line with Nintendo strategy. Different members want a Wii for different reasons (Golf for Dad, Wii Fit for mom, games for kids, Brain Age for grandma) so they end up getting multiple units. Much like many homes have multiple tvs, dvds, pcs, etc.
This is one reason why I agree with John Lucas' predictions (usually).
