When it was first revealed, I didn't have any real faith; I figured it was some shovelware developer trying to cash in on the then-ripe Kid Icarus hype. I was pleasantly surprised at how wrong I was. NyxQuest is a very well built, very challenging, and very enjoyable 2D platformer. It's got a few flaws, namely the repetitive environments and music (both of which I blame on the limits Nintendo put on WiiWare), but apart from that I'm really enjoying it. I'm especially pleased with how tight and responsive the controls are. It takes the best of Lost Winds, but it replaces the exploration with solid platforming, while adding some actual challenge.
I haven't beat it yet, but it's ramping up steadily. There probably won't be much replay value, but I've already sunk in three hours, so for ten bucks I consider it a good value already.
I'm curious to hear what other people who've tried it think.
