Forums - Gaming - Is Activision Slowly Killing Guitar Hero ??

Yeah they are they a milking it too much. Newer games won't sell like GH III or past titles.

Define "Slowly".

It's life is hanging by a thread, IMO... and how long has the series been around? 3-4 years?

Slowly just isn't the word..

4 ≈ One

more like guitar zero as in zero sales soon, amirite?

RIP guitar hero, i never like it to be honest, but yes activision has killed it i just hope COD doesn't go down the same road

Nope.   Because like all games you have the option wether to buy it or not.

I never get tired of rythm games...I love them.  And buy all the one's that I want and rent the others that aren't worth the buy.

See by releasing multiple titles a year, they make sure theirs something for everyone, and they actually are more likely to sell more copies combined then if they would have released just one game a year.  And its cheaper than buying individual songs/song packs for DLC.

But of course people that don't like Activision/Rythm games wouldn't understand.

It's never the consumer that doesn't understand, it's always the company. Companies who say that are ones that fail..

OT: I think without The Beatles: Rockband and DJ Hero this year, the music/rhythm genre would have shrunk. It's only a matter of time before they'll need a keyboard and bagpipes hero because people will grow tired of the guitar.

Call of Duty is a similar story, after MW2, if Activision don't change things up, the franchise will begin to decline next year.

I also hate the milking of franchises.

But about Guitar Hero, it's just about new playlists...
World Tour added interesting functionnalities, so I wouldn't call it milking.
GH5 will bring us what I consider their best playlist yet...

What's bothering me more is that if you want to experience it fully, you have to buy the brand new guitar, and drums, and mic, each time...

All in all, IMHO people will get bored of buying full new games and accessories, so activision should stick with DLC, make it better, make it more integrated into the game, and make it cheaper. And release a new Guitar Hero when that really matters (every 3 years maybe)

''are killing''....................lol

they already have, along with it they are also killing the genre and in that way Rock Band may also go down because of them

I don't mind that they release several games a year. The part that pisses me off is that the DLC that you buy will not be interchangeable. So lets say you go out and buy Guitar Hero 5 and already own World Tour, the music you bought for WT will not work with 5. What a crock of BS....

I think it will work. At least that's what I understood...
