Forums - Gaming - Is Activision Slowly Killing Guitar Hero ??

i think call of duty need a break also after modern warefare 2, but they will prolly have world at war 2 next year, but yea GH is gettin old and sales are gonna start to decline more and more

I think Activision may have realized that music games are fading so they are releasing everything they have in the pipeline sooner rather than later to maximize profits.

Of course, releasing everything is hastening the killing of this genre. It is going the way of dance and karaoke games -- from mainstream to niche.

EDIT ADD -- And it does not hurt that this strategy hurts a competitor (Rock Band).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Killed - Past tense. Also, Rock Band is quite a bit better, so that doesn't help.

How exactly is DJ Hero a Guitar Hero game? It plays different. It uses a different pripheral. You play to different music than in Guitar Hero. I don't see the connection outside of it having "Hero" in the title.

I think for some it's just the same ole "music game with a mandatory peripheral" cash in.

whats' the difference between Band Hero and GH5?

Band Hero's tracklist is going to target popular music, more modern tracks, and lighter, family friendly songs. In other words, more No Doubt and Fall Out Boy and less Metallica and death metal. The difficulty is going to get a lift to be easier also but I don't see the point in that.

Regarding your previous reply to me, that doesn't make it cashing in. It's a different team tackling a brand new idea that is far removed from Guitar Hero. Anyone that has looked up the game would know this. Everyone that has played it has already commented that your Guitar Hero skills will not come in handy, and you'll have a new set of learning curve to overcome. To me, it's a totally different experience. To those of you that think people that enjoy DJing are the same people that enjoy rock music, stop lumping everyone into one group.

Slowly?

Nope.   Because like all games you have the option wether to buy it or not.

I never get tired of rythm games...I love them.  And buy all the one's that I want and rent the others that aren't worth the buy.

See by releasing multiple titles a year, they make sure theirs something for everyone, and they actually are more likely to sell more copies combined then if they would have released just one game a year.  And its cheaper than buying individual songs/song packs for DLC.

But of course people that don't like Activision/Rythm games wouldn't understand.
