Forums - Sony - Yamauchi : Gran Turismo 5's damage modelling is unfinished

I have to ask one thing here... if the damage doesn't affect all cars, does that mean you can just choose that car to play online without getting damaged?

Perhaps if you pick a car that can't take damage, it limits other players to choosing similarly.

Well... Gran Turismo is not Burnout so... I don't need damages in GT5.

Don't understand why people want it...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

THe part that I don't get... wasn't this the same guy that said the game was finished and they could release it any time?

so after all only those 170 will have damage and it's not even finished? after what? 2 years since Yamauchi said that they are buying licenses for damage to use them in GT5?! Gran Turismo 5 in Q4 2010/Q1 2011, confirmed?
they announced damage DLC for Prologue months before its release - it's been almost 2 years since the game launched in japan and there's still no damage and we're talking bout 70 cars.

Did you miss the part when Yamauchi said GT5 will release shortly after GT PSP?

My only worry is that the game will come out and journalists will hate on it for having inferior damage compared to others and completely ignore the fact that it blows the competition away in every other aspect. (if it does)

Well...if the production house raves about the amount of vehicles in the game, but it's only 17% getting the full treatment...isn't that something to hit them on?

No.

That's 17% more than we deserve to get, honestly. The game was never about damage. Any Damage is an addition to a stellar 9.5+ game.
It doesn't take away from the game until you start losing sleep over it like a lot of people seem to do.

That is a solution, but a very bad one...

They could also restrict everyone to choosing damageable cars for online, but that's also pretty bad (eliminating hundreds of cars from online??).

What journalists are you talking about?  Kotaku, Eurogamer, Edge?  Those "journalists" hated GT5 before Yamauchi began work on it.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Why do you say that ?

Eurogamer about Forza 3: "Turn 10 is intensely proud of Forza's graphics, and the 60 frames a second impress - it's not quite GT5, though."
