I don't think Prime 3 was as inspired as the first two - level design was linear, the plot was repetitive with American voice acting I disliked, the art direction was poor (everything looked the same, same problem the Conduit had) and it only had one good piece of music [Skytown] when the previous two games had lots of music I liked.

The controls were well done but the lock-on wasn't good enough, especially on bosses (kept missing).

If you want a generic 'space marine' FPS, there are tens of other franchises where you can get it. There is only one Metroid franchise and I don't want to see it taken over by that genre. Even Other M looks too focused on the action rather than the exploration for me, though I'll wait until the reviews of course.

I didn't played the game too much (sold it to buy the Trilogy), but if I remember correctly, you can adjust the controls to Basic so the lock-on is like in the first two Metroid Primes.

Ill say its underrated. If memory serves me right, its the weakest of the Prime subseries, but its still a hell of a game.

Yes, a 90/100 is underrated.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Prime game sometime in the future. The games were financially successful and re-established the Metroid name as a quality franchise. I doubt they'll let everything they've done with that fade away into obscurity.

... Then again, that seems to be exactly what they're doing with some of their other AAA-franchises like Starfox, F-Zero, and Donkey Kong, so who knows.
Thank God we still get another TINGLE GAME!! :D
