The problem is not what he says, the problem is how he says it. Think of a politician, the leader of the political party you vote is (in countries with a deep democratic tradition) as good or as bad person as the leaders of the other parties, but you accept in a much easier way his/her defects. If you don't think in a cold way, you can get caught in the trap and believe that the other leaders use demagogy and use all the tricks to get votes, and the leader of the party you vote is a saint reincarnate, but every politician who wants to win an election does it.

Mike talks and behaves as a politician, and this is the problem people has with him. The fans of Sony/PS3 forgive his ways, but the other users can't stand them.

The problem with MikeB is that he never admits he's wrong. When someone proves him wrong, he just deflects or ignores. I think the politician comparison was quite adequate. I've seen him using the same argument again and again even after it was disproven... (for example the assets thing he used earlier in the thread, which he has used before)

On the surface he may seem civil, but quite a lot of times he gets passive aggressive when challenged.

We all have problems... but MikeB's problems make it very hard to debate with him. I've been wrong tons of times, but when confronted I just ADMIT I was wrong. It isn't that hard.

He has more than brought it on himself. He makes obviously false claims, and then simply ignores all the evidence to the contrary that is later posted. This would be tolerable if he didn't go out with the exact same incorrect talking points later on. Look at this thread as a shining example. He has claimed to be "attacked" for his predictions, but the only linked post (from someone who is not MikeB) shows it to be entirely wrong. And still he persists in his claims with no evidence to back it up, and deflects or ignores the point against him. If he wanted to be treated nicely, then he should actually engage in discussion rather than annoying rhetoric. There is a reason only PS3 fans defend him.

I was kinda hoping for you to give me an example of where comments from you that at first seemed outrageous to people have then later been redeemed as sane. Instead you give me a link to a post by a (permabanned) poster that finishes up with saying "MikeB does know what he's talking about."

All I've seen so far from you is you claiming unchallanged statements as great and controversial predictions.

For all the silly stuff MikeB says, I can't help but feel that there are other users who are equally or even more silly who don't get anywhere near as much hate.
There is no doubt that which side you're on matters just as much as what you say and how you say it.

So, let me get this straight:

A guy (MikeB) likes his tech, and makes a few predictions, a few of which are totally wrong. He doesn't admit he's wrong (alot of people don't), and so he gets or has been basically bullied around here?

I remeber seeing people having blue writing in their sigs stating that they wanted him permabanned, because he has a few shares in Sony. I mean he's probably no Saint, but people have been way too harsh on him. You can disagree with him, but you shouldn't go round trying to take the piss out of him just because he's an extreme optimist.

The problem are not his (some of them crazy) predictions. In this website a lot of forumers make predictions, it's the core of the site. The problem is the way he pushes his agenda, with passive aggressive posts, and blatant lies. And when you center the attention at his lies, he ignores your posts, vanishes for some time, and repeats his "truths" in other threads when he comes back. This is what a lot of people are tired of, and has granted him bans in a lot of forums.

I'm not sure if he's an attention whore, or only loves so much a brand that sees a distorted reality.

Exactly like another, praised and popular member (who has been gone for some time now). I certainly agree that MikeB says a lot of strange shit but he's far from the worst in here, very far.
