Value is a ratio of cost vs benefit. The PS3 has not been better value and the market says so. |
hmm, weird, before MS cut the price last year PS3 has been showing better value...

I've been thinking about this since I saw that "360 54% failurerate thread" (im still skeptical about the 54%) that how much of microsofts sales come from their customers buying the console over and over again? I've heard and even know people who have been on their 3rd,4th or even 5th 360 and they would still buy another one.
When it comes to gaming value both consoles are close enough, both have a lot of great multiplats and exclusives. Sony is just doing the best they can to effect the customers to tilt towards their console and hardware can help with this.
People still care about the games more then anything else. If they like PS3 exclusives better then the 360 timed exclusives and PC/360 exclusives then they will still buy a PS3. Not everyone cares about Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray players can still be had cheaper then the PS3. If the 360 still outsells the PS3 this holiday season or they end up tieing for the year then what would all the Sony fans think?
It's just that simple.

That is highly subjective though, to me the DS has nearly no value at all, the console itself costs quite a bit here and the games are nearly as expensive as console games! Add to that that I don't like handheld gaming at all and never have and the DS has no value to me whatsoever, same with the PSP, I'm not interested in the games nor the media functions it has (I don't need them, I have my PC and I hate watching stuff on a tiny screen and running out of juice after a few hours of use).

I feel like if I give a response to this Id get a load of hate mail and be called a sony fanboy

As many others have pointed out it's subjective. Value is determined on every individual person.
For example, one person doesn't care about Blu Ray. So that option for him on PS3 is INSTANTLY taken out of the equation.
That same person loves to game. The 360 has more than double the AAA games according to Metacritic than the PS3. And it has a proven better online experience, with ALOT more content across all online media.
So to this person straight away the 360 Elite at $299 looks WAY better value.
Value is subjective. What is value for you, is a waste of money to another. Ever been to a carboot sale?
