Forums - Nintendo - Hardcore "beleive" Nintendo will lose. We laugh

i love the fact that to them "games" means gorefest cause apparently Conduit and Madworld were the only games released on a wii in the last year or so. it's funny how the same people were hyping LBP on ps3 not long ago.

Gaming journalism at it's finest...

Exactly. The lack of quality gaming journalism around really does irritate me-mainly because many gaming journalists so openly hate on the Wii. There isn't any kind of professional judgement, there isn't any attempt to discuss the Wii's merits or embrace new gamers in the market. It's just the same old anti-Wii crap. The same old "Nintendo abandoned us", the same old "gimmick gimmick gimmick" motion controls.

Honestly-are Nintendo going to lose at this point? They have what, a 30 million lead over PS3 and 20 million lead over 360, that is getting bigger every week despite the price cuts, despite the 'superior' software and features of the HD machines.

The 'hardcore' need to wake up and see the Slim for what it is. It's Sony's most desperate move yet. It isn't the machine designed to turn the console war upside down and dethrone the Wii-it's the machine designed to give Sony a fighting chance at second place this generation, and to actually become relevant to the mass market Nintendo has been capturing.

Nintendo have 'won' this generation without really fighting it. They stepped round their competition, and have forced Sony and Microsoft to accept the new rules. That's why Natal and PS Motion control are the 'next big thing', according to MS and Sony-because they didn't see the Wii's success coming in 2006, when motion control really was the next big thing.

Actually it's a way to make a lower cost system so that they finally start making money off it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Even if Xbox or PS3 increased their sales above the wii sometime in 2010 idk.. the Wii still has an incredible advantage almost the double of both of them combined, this is just ridiculous!

thats not an advance, unless you are fanboy, Third party think of demographic, unless wii third party games start selling like 360+ps3 ones they won't care.

thats why market share it's for, it's not a penis size competition.

Can't it be both?

If these Chinese parts we have been hearing about hold up, then this was a great move. If the failure rate of the PS3 skyrockets and that gets a lot of coverage in the mainstream press, the damage to the Sony brand name could be irrepairable; Sony charges premium prices for many of its electronics products, and can only continue to so long as people trust the name.

(Sony dodged a real bullet in this regard four years ago when the OEM laptop manufacturers forced Sony to recall hundreds of millions of laptop batteries; there were so many people in the press and internet forums who were misinformed as to who was to blame that most of the GP never realized it was all Sony's fault, and never noticed that the OEM maunfacturers willingly took the PR and monetary hit to protect their customers while Sony denied the issue existed for as long as possible)

Fox News taking over gaming?

I hope we get the equivalent of John Stewart and Stephen Cobert.

Nice video. I loved it.

What I find fascinating is how they just hugely misinformed, when they're supposed to be "educated journalists." It's a fact that the wii sells more third-party software than the PS3 or 360.

Not to mention the complete ignorance of the Wii's lineup! They say that the wii has no games, yet it has one of the most impressive lineups of all the systems for the next year. They're Q3-Q4 lineup this year is really awesome as well.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Gaming Journalism have little in common with proper Journalism, most of those dudes are bunch of fanboys that need to grow up.

Nintendo can't lose, the Wii has gotten such a massive following that everyone knows someone who got it. And even though I personally don't care for it's games or controller I can see why someone would want to have one after trying it at a friend's house. It's a family console much like the PS2 in it's Eyetoy period and later years. We also shouldnt forget that Nintendo isn't dropping the Wii's price so people won't wait for a pricedrop but there are always those who do wait. If the Wii would ever drop in price then it would be 2008 all over again. Wii won this generation, no doubt about it. But in my book Natal/PS Wand will start a new generation, a generation that isn't marked by a new console but by new hardware and software technology. Sony and Microsoft will use their cheap HD consoles + motion controls to win the casual gamers market and since the Wii is old news at that point they might succeed. But they would butcher each other and neither would be a PS2/Wii success story. No doubt Nintendo would return a few years after that with their latest tech to pick things right up where they left.
