Forums - Nintendo - Namco: Wii can't handle Tekken 6, PSP can.

Most people advocating for a Wii port just assume the game is going to play well - there's absolutely no guarantee of this. Port of arcade games to inferior hardware have rarely resulted in games that completely resmble the original and usually have some frame-rate/slowdown issues that plague the game and make it unplayable to the more dedicated audience. It will be an imperfect game - so essentially, people that play fighting games (a market that you want to target for a fighting game) are likely going to opt for the 360 or PS3 version. That demographic most likely already has a PS3 or 360 - other big name fighing franchises being released on both console already has established that market on both of those systems.

The Wii has not shown it can support a traditional fighter, and while some third party games have done remarkably well on the system it's still a mixed bag for developers. TvC was the traditional fighter built on Wii hardware that was released on the Wii and sold about 100k in Japan. With a Tekken 6 Wii port, Namco would essentially be trying to sell a watered-down Wii version when a superior version is readily available on the PS3/360. There market for that audience probably is too big. The fighting game community is going to shun a Wii port regardless because they're jerks (and a lot of them already have a PS3/360 because of SFIV). Anybody that likes to think they are good (there are a lot of these people) are going to get a 360/PS3 version too. Anybody that wants to play their fighting games online is going to get the 360/PS3 version - those online interfaces are bound to better than the Wii's. Anybody that owns both a Wii and another console will most likely opt to get the 360/PS3 - it will definitely look better and is bound to get heralded as the superior version by media and most everybody else that touches the game. I just don't think the market that is left is large enough to justify a port. I mean, even most of the people defending a port wouldn't get a Wii version. And the people here defending Namco for not making a port definitely aren't going to get the Wii version either. The audience just isn't there.

You do realize that entire post of yours is rendered completely null and void by the fact that the PSP is getting the game, don't you?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Tomb Raider Underworld is available for the PS2. The Playstation 2!! Where's the 14 page thread on that?

^^^^Nvm. There's a Wii version, too.

Did Eidos(or whoever develops it now) say that the Wii couldn't handle Tomb Raider underworld? Come on people. Read the op again. For the "x"th time this thread isn't about Tekken 6 coming to the Wii.

No. The PSP has shown it can support a traditional fighter.

Not really, he argues that the PS3/360 will be the best and the one most people gets anyway and did not imply that the PSP version would do very well, rather that the Wii version wouldn't (which is probably true). He didn't even mention the PSP and, besides, the PSP has a different audience and merit than the Wii. The simple fact that it is a Sony product which could have bred familiarity with the game franchise on its own speaks in its favor but I don't think anyone in their right mind expect the PSP version to do nearly as well as the stationary ones.

This is the exact same scenario as has been shown with almost every single major 3rd party game series this gen; no Wii version, or a spin-off or completely different version, followed by complaints from Wii owners. Buy an HD console and enjoy more games. Some guy said in another thread "but not everyone can afford more than one console" which is a dumb argument, if you can only afford one 200-300$ console then you can't really afford any games either.

Instead of jumping up and down with fury and attacking the developers perhaps Wii owners should realize that Nintendo set themselves, and their customers, up for this on their own when they decided to make a different type of console. Besides; between the DS and the Wii I don't see how Nintendo customers can be that badly off anyway (we always hear of all those great games on those systems, so go play them).

The developer is an ass for trying to fool folks with the "weaker hardware" thing, the Wii is probably just as capable as the PSP (and PSP Go) but this chorus of complaints is getting loud and ridiculous and one could examine every thread of this kind and see the same users saying the same thing and simply change the name of the game or series in question and have one self a perfectly good "I'd like to protest this decision to not put game X on the Wii" template.

Look at his first argument. Arcade ports. he talked of hardware limitations being a major problem and reason why it shouldn't be on Wii yet the fact a PSP version exists nullifies that position entirely.

This argument is old. How many times must the Wii get looked over or given some spin-off game before people stop complaining and just go buy a console that gets what they want?

Is like buying a PS3 then complaining it doesn't get any Metroid games.

While this is true ... it has utterly missed the point.

You cannot claim graphics issues and have a PSP release.

I personally would rather a developer say, "We are not going to develop for that platform" without saying something stupid (in this case) or derogatory (which has been the case in other situations).

Most people who dont own a Wii and posted in this thread, missed the point (And I believe on purpose, to have something they could use against the Wii).

I would report you all but my PC isn't that fast and I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of doing it, but this thread isn't a whining thread like many ignorants have stated. If you have read the OP properly you would realize. No one is fucking whining about Tekken not coming, it's that crappy excuse that bothers people. When developers lie about the reason. The same guy who is quoted in the OP was the one that said some months ago that if Wii fans wanted the game they would have to make themselves be heard by Namco with petitions.

Somehow the game was doable like 3 months ago, but now it's impossible because the Wii is apparently weaker than the PSP. Give me a break... But I don't expect Wii haters to take this post serously, since their sole purpose is to spout shit about anything Nintendo related when there's a chance.
