Forums - Sony - Charging for PSN

This is purely hypothetical but, what if Sony never charges for the PSN? What if, even after these rumours, it stays free? How would you react?

Invisible Walls started this rumor... they are saying that they see Sony charging for PSN rather than MS dropping the XBL cost.

It would be weird after they made such a big deal about the "gamer's Bill of Rights."

On the other hand, the Giant Bomb guys were talking a month or so ago about how Microsoft is phasing out retail cards for Live Gold. I wonder if they've been considering free online in the event of Sony putting the screws to them.

Why do people keep thinking Sony is going to charge for PSN? They aren't. They are using the free model to generate a large user base. They have 27 million PSN accounts. That will obviously skyrocket now.

I would much rather have a free service to generate a huge base and have that huge base be able to search through the service to buy things.

Sony will not charge for the PSN.

No and they won't.

And the only rumors of paying to play on PS3 were about mag because of a survey/poll from SONY.

4 ≈ One

Would that bring Cross Game Chat....Cuz I would Jump In....Wait..I'm sorry....

Sony built their platform based on a free online experience, do you really think they are going to ruin their pricecut and new version of the PS3 by starting to charge for online?

Come on people, lets use our brains every once in awhile.

Sony also built their platform and pounded their chests about the importance of full backwards compatibility at launch.
