Like I said in another thread, the game being "smaller than Lost Odyssey" (seriously, does that even matter? =/) probably has to do with Microsoft's licensing fees per disc. It's no surprise that the only 4-disc 360 game was published by Microsoft, thus negating the licensing fee. The first 3-disc game was also published by Microsoft (Blue Dragon) and there has thus far been only one other 3-disc game (Star Ocean 4).

There is no licensing fee per disk. There never has been, and there never will be. The quote was mis-intepretated, and has been clarified many, many, many times now. There is extra cost to using the third disc due to manufacturing only. There is no extra licensing fee for more discs.

Since when?

And why would maufacturing costs be an inhibiting factor for the number of discs used?  DVDs cost less than 10 cents a piece when mass produced.  The guys at id are probably spending more on the BD-Rom for the ps3 version of Rage than they would on 3 DVDs.

this is true, IF they package the other discs in sleeves.

Installing should eliminate the need to swap discs.

ms restricts mandatory installs.

I'm a little suprised its only 3 discs.

Then again I was kinda surprised FF X and XII were only 1 DVD at first.

Not a big deal, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Final Fantasy XIII all on multiple discs. Never was a huge deal to jump up off the couch or bed to swap in for another disc. I think of it as exercise and a way to get into the game more then just being lazy. But the PS3 version is ideal because it was built with the Blu-ray in mind.

i could care less about how many disks as long as the series returns to its former greatness, after the bad ff12.

Let's be serios...SE said tha game is about 40 hours of Story...So....15 hours per disc....Who plays for fifteen hours straight...SE is not new to this....the people who kept bashing the Xbox 360 version for being multi disc made my year....

Toriyama says that we should expect about 40 to 50 hours worth of gameplay for the main quest, so a minute or two dedicated to ejecting, swapping and reloading probably won't mean much in the long run.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? so for backtracking etc you will have to keep swapping disks?

Ih ope SE are better than that. Lost Odyssey did NOT require swapping discs to backtrack. Niether did previous FF's. So why would FF13?

what the fuck????????????????????????????????????????????????? DAMN IT

i buy a PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIII with 1. Blu Ray, sorry

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
