Forums - Nintendo - Will the wii relinquish it's weekly WW sales crown over the next few week?

the 360 will never sell more then the wii they already have the arcade version for $199 and they still can't out sell at $50, they will never be able to do it at $50 more. i could see the ps3 beating nintendo the wii in japan for a little while but it still won't out sale the ds.

the part that is bold in the quote is what u r right about but the second part is possible but not likely .....

They will outsell them for a few weeks or so, then slwoly decline while still retaining a higher position than the 360 for a few more weeks. When it levels out, I expect it to be higher than the 360.

You're forgetting that it did once: September 2007 saw the 360 (narrowly) outsell the Wii in North America. Additionally, there was a two month period where the PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan (remember the crowing? Followed by the crow-ing?). So it's a given that the Wii will NOT always dominate the sales charts under any and all circumstances. Whether the pent-up demand and people "upgrading" to a Slim will be enough to boost the PS3 past the Wii in the opening week is the question here, and I think the answer is likely.

As for the part abouit ODST and the 360, you're almost certainly correct that a spinoff title of a series which barely propelled the system over the Wii will probably not be enough, especially when another Halo title has hit the system since then. Declining returns and all that.

It's pretty likely to be honest... but it won't stay above it for long.

I think the PS3 will outsell the Wii for a few weeks.

Hmmm...maybe I overestimated Halo:ODST. I kinda dropped out of the x360 Halo sceen a while back.

I usually give any Halo game respect, even that RTS one that released recently.

If a precedent wasn't already set, XB360 price cut, I would say that it could, but looking at it from a purely historical point of view I don't think it will. Because the software that was SUPPOSE to push hardware hasn't changed this year for PS3. Also, NSMB Wii may move hardware, so any momentum that PS3 gain will be stymied.

...If anything the price change SHOULD stop PS3 from bleeding market share just like the XB360 price cut did.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

I say no, but more because I'm not sure supply will meet demand.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I'm sure the PS3 will overtake PS3 sales in its peak week when Slim comes out. If it doesn't then Sony should be worried haha. But I'm also wondering if Nintendo will have a response (although it looks like they won't). I'm not so sure about the 360 but PS3 definitely could overtake Wii for a few weeks.

A few weeks, maybe. Perhaps even overall for the month of September? Who knows. This is the price-drop people have been waiting for.
