Even if that's true, it won't do Slim owners any good. PS3 games are coding to work off the current system architecture. Similar to how the new PSP models have more RAM than the original PSP-1000 but games are still coded for the original specs.

it most certainly will make a difference. In everything else. Remember, the PS3 is also a hi-def movie player and media center without the use of a PC and it also has an internet browser. All of the functions of firmware 3.0 and onwards will be supporting the new speed for XMB.

The point of the advertisement is to show that the PS3, as a machine, does "everything" ie, every form of entertainment. Which it does, very well.

With the 299$ price point this is pretty much the best deal any person could get.

Which, btw, could most likely be a new limitation in firmware 3.0 and not be specific to the hardware revision per se.

Well yeah, the tag is pretty much correct, mostly. If you think the ad is all but smoke and mirrors, look at the xbox 360 commercial with the lbp theme. That's a bigger lol than what you claim about the playstation 3.
