same here, I actually looked it up in google when I posted last...LOL
Apparently it's TNAs turn to drag around the well-abused corpse of ECW now. Whoop-de-friggin-doodaa.
Does anyone think it's going to actually help them or - by god - somehow save their sinking ship?

I know you hate TNA, but c'mon man...
you realize that despite what dave meltzer says TNA is doing better finnancially due to overseas sales than it ever has right? it beats WWE in ratings in the UK almost every week. Once they stop doing worthless money-sinks that are PPVs, they'll even do better.

What does that exactly mean in this situation - losing less or actually making money?
Besides, TNA needs to do a hell of a lot more than just stop doing PPV's and scale back if it's going to stay alive, let alone challenge the WWE at some point - starting with replacing the entire management, working to become its own entity instead of WWE-lite - or, even worse, dying-WCW-lite, and doing little things like actually having more straight finishes on its shows.
Even if your firm is somehow doing financially better (which is good for them, even though I haven't seen this info on any wrestling site I frequent), it's not going to last forever if your creatively bankrupt show is led by a pack of retarded orcs.

TNA is far from a "sinking ship" though, they are doing well. Most of the high dollar contracts with Flair and such were given out by Spike TV, not TNA, so they haven't really done anything too crazy. As for where I got the info they announced a while ago that due to overseas TV sales they were paying back the initial investment on the company from Panda Energy. I agree that TNA has its problems, but the whole "oh noes TNA is gonna go out of business soon" stuff has been going on since 2002, and its still there.
The problem I have with wrestling sites like the ones Brian Alvarez and Dave Meltzer run (which are the ones most sites get stories from) is that they are largely made up of fake news stories, from folks that Hate Vince Russo so much that they slander the show at any cost. take for example Meltzer who runs the wrestling observer went a while without watching Impact or the PPVs but still rated matches from the shows based on what he read. pretty horrible journalism if you ask me, they don't call them "dirt sheets" for no reason.

Okay, so they are actually doing better financially than I thought (any links to that announcement?) - and considering the overall level of their product, that's nothing short of astounding IMO.
Personally, I don't give that much credit to dirt sheet rumors that Alvarez, Meltzer, Keller and co. are so wont to spread - at least not anymore, and I tend to review matches when I see them and not before :p. I just see a ton of fundamental problems in TNA's product that have to be eventually addressed, otherwise it's always going to stand on shaky legs IMO - this ECW debacle-to-be is an example of those.

I didn't like TNA last night. I want to see Hernandez, The Pope, Somao Joe, Desmond Wolf and Jay Lethal last night, not Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley, Raven, Rhino, Steven Richards. The Motor City Machineguns/Beer Money Inc. cage match was the best thing on the show last night. The main event sucked bad, TNA should have left the ECW guys alone.
