well, they still developed 2 games in 5 years. And PD said that they could launch GT5 right now if they want to which means that they didnt have to launch GT5 in 2009/10, but they wanted to be sure that the game delivers

just like 3D Realms.

It's really like any other B.S argument that takes place on the forums. At least with GT5 and Forza, we are comparing actual pictures from two seperate games (fake as they may be). Think about all the stupid arguments here about which version of a multiplatform game looks better...when really the graphics are almost always less different than GT vs. Forza.

one thing people need to remember is that Forza 2 has been in development for 2 years while GT5 has been in development for like 5

I'll never understand this logic.  Polyphony were working on three games over the span of those five years - Tourist Trophy, Gran Turismo PSP, and Gran Turismo 5.  Plus they managed to release GTHD in time for the ps3's launch.  Turn 10 have only ever worked on one game at a time.

@seece: You do realize that despite your good intentions, this thread will inevitably devolve into another GT vs Forza comparison, don't you?  :P

OP: Why? Because they are on the systems who are having the fiercest war and they're the only two games of that exact kind for each platform.
Also, there's a lot of emotion and excitement attached to them, PS fans knows how important it (Gran Turismo) has been for their brand and x-box fans do as well and want Forza to become equally important.
They're likely to become the most influential, best selling and highest quality racer series on their respective platforms (and indeed already are) and are hyped and argued around accordingly.
