Forums - Sales - 360 + PS3 have BIGGER sales than Wii

I agree with the OP
personally I think the gamecube had far better core 3rd party games than the Wii in the same time frame
Resident Evil , one of my favorite game series since the PS1 moved to the Gamecube despite being very popular and dominant in sales with Playstation
Resident Evil 0, Remake, and (for a brief time RE4) could justify a RE fan who only owned a PS2 a purchase of the gamecube
now im aware Resident Evil Unbrella Chronicles is on the wii and after renting the game and playing it at a friends house I felt the game was a borefest since everything is done for you except shooting and I have no hope for the RE2 DC coming to the wii since it will also be an on rails shooter.

Hi people

At this point I'm glad to see that:

360     - 31.410.000
PS3     - 23.240.000
TOTAL - 54.650.000

Wii      - 52.510.000

Considering that the audience for 360 and PS3 are pretty much the same, I'm glad that the Wii is being beated.

Why? Because I don't want the future of video games to be Wii-like. I don't mind Wii or NINTENDO, I don't mind it all, they can get all they money they want, I don't care, no problem.

But I don't want the future of video-games to be that, I'm glad HD gaming is already winning. I was really afraid that every publisher looked at the Wii like the ONLY example to follow. We, the ones that buy HD games are proving that there's more to games than the Wii.

Hmm....

The future of gaming. To be Wii-like. You mean fun or original? lol

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Um you realize that many of these sales for PS3 and 360 overlap right? There are more than likely more Wii users than PS3 +360 users... In any case, it's only a matter of time before Wii reaches 50% marketshare (my guess is after the holidays). Then once it does that, what will be the excuse then? "Well.. at least PSP+PS3+360 sales are greater than Wii! HA take that nintendo!"

I guess we don't see eye to eye in gaming's best future. I personally feel that gaming was losing its way before Wii came along. With out it, gaming would have become very boring with rapidly increasing costs and far to much emphasis on graphics and horsepower than actual gameplay.

How was gaming losing its way...? I never understood the logic of great graphics = boring and generic gameplay

I agree.  Graphics have nothing to do with game play.  The Wii's emphesis on quality games instead of pretty graphics is having a positive effect on sales.  Eventually, Sony and Microsoft caught on and are now trying the adopt the same philosophy.

At this point I'm glad to see that :

X360 - 31.410.000
PS3 - 23.240.000
PSP - 50.900.000
TOTAL - 105.550.000

Wii - 52.510.000
DS - 108.730.000
TOTAL - 161.240.000

Considering that the audience for 360, PS3 and PSP are pretty much the same, I'm glad that Nintendo is easily beating the competition. :P

^That doesn't make much sense?

This is what you should of wrote

PSP: 50 million

PS3: 23 million

PS2: 132 million

Total: 205 million

Wii: 52 million

DS: 108 million

Total: 160 million

X360: 31 million

oh you want me to add previous generation of consoles like GBA+GC? I'm sure you don't...

The GameCube isn't still selling, but the PS2 is still selling almost as good as the HD consoles so it should be added.

Hooray! The collective sales penis of Microsoft and Sony is bigger than Nintendo's! Hooray!!

....

Seriously. I don't care if the HD systems have 51% market share. Nor do I care if the Wii manages to get to 50% market share or higher. This won't change my experience as a gamer. The changes are already on the way, and it's Microsoft and Sony following Nintendo's example.

I do care about the systems being successful, about gamers getting good value for their money and developers putting time and effort into quality releases.

hey it's not the size what matters, but how you used it.

sony +1
