Forums - Gaming - Will Microsoft and Nintendo Counter Sony's Price/Slim?

Around the Network

^Is that top one a copy?

Nintendo doesnt have to do anything they will still sell enough and make a lot of money, i wouldnt be suprised if they started Bundles around holidays and maybe introduce a black Wii in the west.

Wii with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort may be in the pipeline?

MS will discontinue the Pro and slash the Elite price down to $299.
Ninty... they will bring new colours and Motion+/WSR to the standard SKU.

Sony was forced into a price drop to catch up to the others. I don't think Nintendo will drop the price until their next co sole is out in 2011. They won't have to, that is their victory.

Microsoft might have to, PS3 is an alternative system to the xbox 360.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

PS3 pricedrop this year is desperate but 360's price drop last year wasn't?

Nintendo won't do anything since they're not in direct competition with ps3 or 360 ATM. If natal has a good launch though, ninty may have to act.

As for M$, I honestly have no idea, I doubt they'll sell the arcade for $100 or $150 but you never know. That just seems hella cheap...I guess that's the point.

Ohh yeah it was, if you were on these boards then it was anyway. I don't understand how dropping the price is desperate though, especially with Sony when people were begging them to do it for so long..

Fanboys are fanboys..

I think Sony is going to reap huge benefits because they don't just have the Slim and the pricedrop, but they have much larger things on the near horizon like GT5's worldwide release and FFXIII coming out in Japan where it will sell at least 2 million copies followed by another 2 million copies of Versus XIII being sold in Japan alone and another 3 to 4 million being sold worldwide when it releases in 2010-2011 (The Japanese version will be out in 2010).

Microsoft might need a pricecut on the Arcade even though they been planning to increase its price but an even bigger problem for them right now is their lack of games. ODST is no Killzone 2. Splinter Cell, etc, almost all of them have been pushed out of this holiday season and into 2010. If Alan Wake is done, they might need to go ahead and release it this year and leave the polishing for later patches.

Nintendo has a great game lineup coming in 2010 (but it is composed of games that haven't been their biggest sellers so far this gen, and the blue ocean market doesn't seem to be flocking in mass to the latest versions of games like Wii Sports Resort. That was always going to be a test for Wii if second and third games in blue ocean series could sell as well as the first installments). Nintendo might want to release the HD compatable version of the Wii at $250 with Wii Sports Resort and bring the standard Wii down to $200.00.
