I find the hypocrisy of this thread amusing. PS3 fanboys are always pointing to how the PS3 is more expensive and is still keeping up (to some degree) with the "cheaper" 360. Now we find that the 360 is actually more expensive in the long run, and yet, somehow, it stays ahead of the "cheaper" PS3...care to explain that one?

Easy... Its because its convenient.

When someone asks what console to get -> PS3 because its cheaper.

When someone asks why the Xbox 360 outsells the PS3, its because the Xbox 360 is half the price.

Tease.

Its good to see how the Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 inspite the latter being more expensive. I bet Sony would have to make the PS3 1/3rd the cost of the Xbox 360 to really beat it. The Xbox 360 is simply that awesome!!!

Now what was the point of this thread again?

The Ps3 just dropped to 300 dollars. So the sales from the price drop are not in. The point of this thread I can see is that you get even more value out of the PS3 vs. the others.

It's not that hard to figure out that if someone buys a 360 Arcade unit and if they wanted to try to make it on equal ground as the new Slim PS3 they would spend almost as much as the original 60 gig PS3's price and you still don't have a superior system. In fact all 360 models reach the hieghts of the original 60 gig price.

Of coarse consumers aren't forced to optimize their Arcade unit, but if they did they would spend almost double the price of the PS3 Slim.

The 360 was half the price of the PS3, and its now $100 cheaper than the PS3.

The entry price matters most to consumers.

Exactly! Fanboys on both sides of the isle need to cut it with the Price bulshit. People will buy the console that is right for them. Reguardless of the price.

Of course you do. The a PS3 bought now costs $299 and the Xbox 360 costs over $1000. 6 * $50 (live) + $150 (replacement) + $100 Wireless +$300 console. So its obvious that the Xbox 360 is totally superior in almost every way because it costs so much more than the PS3 and yet it sells more. Honestly, Sony is going to have to find a way to improve value instead of cutting the price all the time.

This is the best chart I've ever seen. No spins at all, and all info right on.

Sell the console cheaper, and the paraphenilia for more, thats what MS is doing, and it's working.

Sony doesn't cut the price of their stuff all the time.

PS3: 1 and a half years since the last price drop.

PS2: I don't know when it's last price drop was. but it's been quite a while.

PSP: Had a price drop over a year and a half ago at least. Newest model raises the price.
