Forums - Sales - I don't see the price cut being enough for Sony

True, he can post his opinion.
But we don't need anymore people rely simply on opinion and making facts out of them.

Sony still really needed to do it.

^This. If sony had actually had this price whan the PS3 came out, I think it would be a whole different ballgame.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I can see that the fanboy wars are going to be full force the rest of the year.  How many different threads are going to be created about the same topic?  The $299 price point has been beaten to death the last 6 months.

Of course the price cut is going to help Sony.  No it doesn't help Microsoft's cause.  And YES, the price cut is good for all gamers.  The more systems out there, the more potential buyers of games there are.  The more money developers make, the more games they can produce.  Pretty simple.

$300 is a GREAT price for a console this Gen. Even if the other consoles are cheaper it is crazy to think you can get a PS3 for only $300.

Fisrt off, it is probably where it should have been to begin with if it was to be successful.  More importantly, Micro and/or Nintnedo can and will respond with cuts and incentives.  I think it is kinda of a lose lose for Sony.  They are shortly going to be the most expensive console again but if they didn't do it, the slow death would continue.  Cutting it even further may have helped but is not practical.  Too little, too late has been the PS3 and seems to continually be playing catch up and losing ground.

I disagree with you ps3 is arguably the most powerfull systern out there.

I am a loyal SONY fan and will always be.

I am also a PS1, PS2, PS3 and a PSP owner.

I agree with you completely. However, lets just be hgappy with the fact that Sony finally drop the prices of their consoles. With all the profit they are going to make off of the PS3 Slim and their other consoles, including the PSPgo and not to mention their huge exclusive titles, we might be seeing another price drop in a year and a half or so.

Not so, A better price would be $250.00 then they would sell like hotcakes. Unfrotunately, the PS3 is more powerful that the other two gaming systems...and that doesn't seem to be helping them out...perhaps consumers don't really care about the power, perhaps they care about value. which at the $400.00 price rangethe PS3 didn't really have. Now with the price cut, it is closer and that extra $50.00 may not make too big of a differance.

^Well yeah, and $200 would be a better price - so what?
$250 is probably impossible but $300 is truly a great price for the PS3.

Do I really see some people now saying $300 is too expensive? O.o

First a $400 360 was great and a $600 PS3 was too expensive.
Second a $300 360 was great and a $400 PS3 was too expensive.
Now a $200 arcade and $300 Elite is fine but a $300 PS3 is still too expensive.

Now I know not many are saying this but I am amazed that some are still using the price argument even now.
