Another interesting thing is going to be how Halo 3: ODST does for hardware. How many people will buy a 360 for what is basically an expansion to a 2 year old game.

I know it will sell well, but I don't think it has a chance of helping Microsoft contain the PS3's potential sales momentum.

Well, it's kinda tough now. If Gamestop does go forward with their release date of the 24th, the US release will desync from the EU and JP launch. I'd need an answer to that before I make any prediction.
