Obviously more people are pretty exciting by the soon to be released PS3, alot can't wait to pick one up. But I think the maybe something to think twice about. The Quality of the new system.

We all know one reason it's being released is to reduce the cost of the system for Sony, but how far have they taken it? Is it possible they sacrificed quality for cost? Well over at Engadget they got their hands on a PS3 Slim, and slim pickings it is. The box seems to be poorly packaged using as little as possible to make it by. I've becomed concerned that Sony may have taken the cost cutting a little too far, and quality has be sacrificed. I mean just look at the thing, it looks old, it looks like its from the PS2 generation.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Sony fan, and I do intend on getting a Slim regardless of the ugly design, but I will wait to see how the quality turns out. Just something for all you potential buyers to think about.

its definitely not as sexy as the ps3 phat, the new look is more on par with the 360, but when comparing the ps2 phat with the ps2 slim, the ps2 slim also had a more dull design

Yea, I'm worried about that too.

I was thinking about selling my phat ps3 to buy slim, but if the quality isn't as good than I probably won't. Anyways, am I the only one that doesn't think the slim is that ugly? I actually like the simpleness.

i suppose the on/off and the eject button are no longer touch sensitive but are now actual buttons...that just makes my ps3 phat that much more SEXY :D

We'll have to wait and see. Clearly they've cut a lot of costs judging by the new price, but that doesn't mean quality has to have suffered.

I thought the PS3 Slim had a power brick now but in that unboxing i don't see anything that looks that shape... only a power cord rather than brick... Maybe it is still inside the console too!

Or it doesn't have a power brick :P

Though I've heard that it has a small one. I haven't seen a power brick yet so who knows.

IF it has BC im buying it, reguardless of its simplistic design. I actually perfer the matte looking finish over the gloss of the Phat.
