Forums - Gaming - Realistic Expectations for the PS3 Slim/Price Cut

Assuming that everything stays as is and the new Elite doesn't include any bundled games, I think that the PS3 will at least match what the 360 does. That's my "at worst" scenario. Personally I think the PS3 will outsell the 360 every month. I've always felt that the game librarys are multiplats or exclusive where the other guys busts their ass to make sure they have an equal quality game in the same genre. To me the lineup is identical. The PS3 gives you the same or equal quality games AND a free Blu-Ray player. Why buy a 360 if it's the same price?

The only way I see MS staying ahead is with a real deal bundle. They should keep the Fable 2 and Halo 3 bundle inside of the Elite and put some real games in the Arcade box.

Once the PS3 comes with a real deal game (for me it'd be LBP, MGS4 or Heavy Rain) bundled and it's only $299, i'm buying it.

I'm also not entirely sure what you mean. I worked everything out in the actual numbers, not percentages. The only percentage I gave was to show what kind of increase the PS3 would need, and I derived that only after finishing with the actual numbers.

Well its more that the PS3 does markedly better during the year and has traditionally done relatively worse than the Xbox 360 during the holidays (when compared to the performance during the year, and vice versa when comparing the Xbox 360 to the PS3).

So to derive any numbers at this point you probably should give more emphasis to yearly gains and less emphasis on holiday season gains for the PS3.

Tease.

I see.

The reason I split it the way I did is because I constantly see people underestimating the holidays in their predictions.  They also tend to ignore it completely and just give a per week average, which I find to be meaningless since the gap is generally small during the year and larger in the holidays.

Either way, I don't think the PS3 will be catching the 360.  My goal was to show just how difficult it is at this point.

This thread encourages SONY bashing/negativity.

And we've already had threads on PS3's expected performance and quite a few on PS3 Slim expected performance.

I think this is the part where we just sit down, shut up and wait for the numbers to roll in, and the competitions response.

4 ≈ One

catching the 360 will still be as hard as it was but at least ps3 will stop selling below 100k.

main reason like i say, is to keep us in reality here, PS3 Slim/Price Cut will no doubt be a boost for Sony, but it aint the holy grail, thats all im saying, i hope the PS3 does well, of course i do, i own one ffs, but im not gonna delude myself.
