Forums - Gaming - Does a game have to be mature to be fun?

Your proberly wondering why I have brought this up.Well its because I want to see what people say about this. It seems to me that some people seem to only have mature games and this happens to alot of people who say that any game that is kidish and thererfore not good games which is bad. I know alot of people who refuse to buy a DS juust beecause of a lack of mature titles even though I hear many people say that the psp has a weak libary. Also I get critsize alot for a lack of mature titles despite the fact that I think they are great games though they don't think so. Its just sad this happens because they are misimformed also I hear that many people hates nintendo consoles due to a lack of mature titles now this is all from my experiance If you are somewhat diffrent and have people around who not like this consider yourself lucky

Of course not. Uncharted, Shadow of the Colossus, LBP, Star Wars Battlefront II, Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology, the entire R&C series and many more are among my favourite games, and all are rated E to T.

It's always good to have SOME M-rated titles- CoD, Halo, BioShock, God of War, Gears, etc., but they're by no means the ONLY good games.

Absolutely not. In fact, the problem I have with most "mature" games is that they're really not mature at all. They fall instead into your stereotypical fratboy orgy type game. There are a few that actually do deal with deep and mature issues very well, but unfortunately, those are the minority of M-rated games.

108 million people disagree with you at the least.

Um, Mario proves it wrong.

I know a lot of people who bought a DS despite its lack of M-rated games. 108 million of them.

Wow, you have just won the thread. LBP and R&C were my biggest ones, but the others are great examples as well.

No, games don't have to be mature to be fun. I think they're just a different kind of fun, for lack of a better term. For example, playing Resistance 2 co-op is fun (IMO), but it's not fun in the same way as slapping someone into an electrified object in LBP is (IMO). I guess it depends on your taste, but games certainly don't have to be mature to be fun.

Kantor; you like Age of Mythology and AoEII? You're my hero!!!!

I can't think of any mature games that are in my top list.
