Forums - General - Michael Vick

I find the outrage over Vick's reinstatement gratuitous. In 1998, Leonard Little killed a woman because he was driving drunk. He was suspended for eight games by the NFL and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, four years of probation, and 1000 hours of community service. Michael Vick pleads guilty to financing dog fighting, and he is sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and is essentially suspended for six games upon his release. Where is the outrage over Little's reinstatement? Why are people not upset that he received a second chance? I love animals, especially dogs, but we the punishment must be commensurate to the crime. Vick's punishment was, ostensibly, commensurate to the crime. Vick received his punishment; we must stop punishing him.

Dogfighting is one of the most sickening things I can think of, anyone who partakes is mentally ill and should be sectioned, not thrown into prison. If he enjoyed forcing humans to fight each other to death he would be in an asylum right now. Honestly, who can derive pleasure from it?

In all honesty I have more respect for him then I do for the people that bash him,

He owned up to it and is trying to make the world better for his crime

And in all honesty the only difference b/t dog fighting and horse racing is the fact that horse racing has a regulatory body

Do you know the acts of cruelty that have been committed against horses that have been injured, horses that are born weaker, or with a defect?

Or dog racing, the same crap happens all the time…..

The only difference b/t dog fighting and those “sports” is that dog fighting has no governing body in this country to say “hey a bullet to the head not a rock, or don’t drown, inject”

Perhaps people should look beyond the cute puppy face and the bullshit that the tree huggers have spread in the media and actually learn about something

After all in other countries he would not have been looked at twice and I have no problem with that, while I don’t support dog fighting in its current form I wont trash something that has been a part of every major culture since the dawn of time and dogs have been domesticated, in fact in ancient roman times it would be a family trip to see a dog fight, and in many a part fo the world it still is

So good job Vic you got to get your second chance, don’t blow it

Ohh an a side note, for those of you that are calling for him to be banned …shame on you for trying to teach my children that they cant make mistakes…

You are saying that you only get one shot and if you screw up no matter what you do you cant redeem yourself and live life better then a 7-11 clerk or something….shame

Because he got caught.  It's not as if he suddenly came to his senses, realized how wrong it was, and turned himself in.  He'd still probably be doing it today if he hadn't gotten caught.

Exactly.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I will give the take as an Eagles Fan.

They should dump him faster than they dumped T.O. who caused more problems for the team than he was worth. Personally I don't care about the dog fighting as he already served his sentence, but as a QB I put him right with Ben Rothlisburger. Neither of them can throw worth beans compared to the better QBs in the league, but at least Vick can run, so that makes up for something. Now, as a backup QB though, he is great as he is an extremely cheap backup QB. I would never take him over McNabb, as even though McNabb has had his bad years, he has done extremely well and has an extremely low interception rate with a 60% completion rate which is average.

If you want to talk about outrage, you should be conversing about the various attacks players have done on each other only to be suspended for a year while the other player never played again due to injury. (Todd Bertuzzi #1 on this link - http://www.electro-mech.com/team-sports/hockey/top-7-nhl-players-whose-careers-were-cut-short ) In my opinion any intentional attacks on another player should lead to a suspension for as long as the other person isn't playing due to injuries. In the case of Bertuzzi he should have been suspended for life even though Moore recovered he couldn't play.

I'm more pissed on the way PETA is riding on this....

I'm not an Eagles fan but I saw what PETA did the other day and that disgusted me. I mean the team is giving this guy a second chance, and you guys try to dress up like fans and says your not Eagles fans anymore? Fuck that. If you were a real Eagles fan ( like my friend is) you would suck it up and move on.

And the dud's not popping up til Oct 16....and he's more likely to be a running back than on the bench.

His ego must be shot though. He went from great 30-40 million dollar 3-5 year deals to a 1.6 million dollar 1 year deal with the option of a second. I dont care if that's alot of money to us, going from 40 mil to 1.6 is a huge drop.

Anyone else see his interview on 60 Minutes with James Brown? Now that was a good interview. I have always been behind the guy though. He did his time, let him play. I'm glad he's back in the NFL and not the UFL which a lot of analysts were saying he should be playing in.

He is damn fun to watch though and this is coming from a guy who is a big division rival when he was in Atlanta.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

This is what I have to say about PETA...

PETA to target kids with disturbing "Unhappy Meals"

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will hand out "Unhappy Meals" to children at an Albany McDonald's restaurant today to protest alleged chicken abuse, according to a statement this morning by PETA.

PETA alleges that McDonald's allows its chicken suppliers to abuse the animals before they are slaughtered for food. The organization advocates "controlled-atmosphere killing," a method that promotes animal welfare.

Children who buy meals at the McDonald's at 391 Central Ave. today beginning at noon will encounter PETA staff, headed by an activist in a chicken costume.

The "Unhappy Meal" that PETA will give to children - a spoof of a Happy Meal - will include a "menacing, knife-wielding" Ronald McDonald cutout, a ketchup packet disguised as chicken blood, a plastic chicken covered in "blood" and a "McCruelty" t-shirt.

The statement indicates that PETA will target children so they will "join its campaign" to convince McDonald's to change slaughter methods.

This article says it all about PETA. I would kick the living shit out of anyone that tried to give this to my kid.
