Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Failure Rate is 54.2 Percent

LMAO, you people are taking a random reader's poll from Game Informer as truth? I bet 2/3 of the people that responded were Sony fanboys. There is no way in hell that 54% is even close to correct. The actual number is probably more like 20-25% at worst. I know at least a dozen people that have owned 360s for at least 2 years and none of them has had an RROD. Anyone can spout baseless crap personal stories and offer them as truth. The real truth is that nobody knows an exact number and never will, but regardless the 360 still outsells the PS3 every single week and will continue to do so. Not to mention the fact that the 360 still has the best attach ratio of all 3 consoles as well. It is so funny that the Sony fanboys keep talking about RROD to this day because they have nothing else they can claim is better about the PS3. And before you call me a MS fanboy, I have owned all of the Sony consoles and the PSP and I still think the Xbox is 10 times better than the PS3 I sold because I only used it for movies 99% of the time...

^^A fanboy in its full anger

I don't know if anyone said this or not, but I bet if this "Survey" was done on vgchartz, it would have a 75-85% failure rate.

I will never understand the abuse that core 360 owners put up with. MS is like a drunken abusive husband. It's just baffling.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

@CGI, yes the price is lower than the PS3. But how about the installed base? PS2 and PS1 CRUSH the installed base of XBOX1.

And although the 360 dies it stills outsells the PS3. SONY did something WRONG. I have my opinion about that (I'm a PS1, PS2 and PS3 owner, but I spent my time and money in the 360) but I will keep it for now.

Fanboys (the name people use in the internet) can say what they want, but the 360 will continue to sell and we will continue to love it.

I advise people to TEST LIVE, to grab some friends and test it for a couple of months. Then you can talk about the PS3 (if you still use it by then).

We are attached to friends, we are attached to LIVE, we are attached to our games. The hardware it's just an interface. If it's broke it has to be fixed, that's all.

Not surprised.

Everything is an interface from that point of view.  I understand why you could feel that way, but its not good in an open market for a mass market product to be allowed a terrible failure rate (not that I think, as I said earlier, that the 360 failure rate is as high as recorded in this survey).  That's allowing your desire for something to override other concerns I'd argue.  For example:

I love driving, my car's just an interface, but I wouldn't want it to break down that often.

I love cinema, my DVD players just an interface, but I wouldn't want it to break down that often.

I love talking to my friends, my phone is just an interface, but I wouldn't want it to break down that often.

Sorry to sound harsh, but putting up with too much because you can't do without something it gives you access to is not in everyone's best interests.  I don't want 360 to fail, but I do want MS to figure it's better to avoid huge write offs, worry about potential lost sales and bad PR and make sure next time they balance speed to market vs reliability a little more in favour of the consumer than their own goals.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Even if failure rate is 100%...MS took care of the problem.

Usually you get 3 months of free live and a repaired console for 3 years. So yeah...these threads need to end.

no, crap hardware needs to end!

I know people who bought 5 or 6 360. I guess they didn't have the 3 year warranty. I'm in Europe though.

Everyone has the three year warranty.  It's offered by Microsoft itself, not the retailers that sell the system.

You my friend, are the love of all those who sell stuff.
