Mine started spinning the fans up to 100% after 20 minutes of a DVD recently, this is usually early signs of YLOD is on its way so I turned it off and will clean it out in due course.

the ps3? just don't play it when it's hot outside.

if it's 28-30 C and the room isn't much lower its going to push the fan... i think it's something in the firmware sony add to prevent overheating.

even it's no that hot inside, if you go XMB and the fan go slower then it's normal, just don't push it when it's hot.

i started playing at night at the fan doens't go crazy.

If you never vacuum your PS3, like with the PS2, cleaning the vent openings, you can expect it. The console simply over heats because it no longer can let its air out. Plus never place your PS3 in a narrow space, it needs at least 5 inches around him for blowing its warm air out.

@Xoj, how do you tell people living in Texas, Florida or California for instance they can't play their PS3's when its warm outside? Since its always warm in those states (so I've been told), but you're right, I've noticed with hot weather the fan blows louder.

it should go 24 C about night. you can play it, fans just get louds and that can be dangerous,  either that or play with air conditioner or no in a warm rooml

You could be right about that. I remember when I just downloaded Topatoi and started playing, my PS3 was making a very loud noise all of the sudden. That day was pretty hot outside around 30 degrees, Celcius!

Anyway, if you hear your PS3 making a loud noise be sure its not overheating and the vent openings are not covered with dust.

@Glari93, how long is his PS3 turned off now? Or else I'm afraid its dead.

so yeah, if it goes back to normal after a while you go back into XMB, it's probably just hot outside and the game you are playing it's making gpu and cpu disipate heat.

playing at night or cool room it's quiet very quiet.
