I think we're all agreed that Sony is bringing in some form of PS3 hardware revision, and that it will be announced on the 18th of August?

I want the VGChartz members to put down their preidctions as to what the hardware revision will entail, and any associated price cut.

I expect that the hardware revision will be a PS3 slim, but that all the 'leaked photos' were not authentic.

I expect it to have a harddrive in the range of 80-120 gb

I expect that it will not be backwards compatible (PS2 sales are making a ton of money for Sony)

I expect there will be no price cut announced. Sony will try to have a profitable quarter for the S/vaio division, which would be impossible with a $100 price cut and very unlikely with a $50 cut. They also want to keep a price cut in reserve in case MS tries to counter the slim.

$299 Current Model PS3 price drop or........80gig $399 Slim coupled with a $50-$100 price drop on current (and much more awesome) big'n'sexy models (Sorry I just like my big glossy PS3). Gotta have my 360 Elite and current model PS3 right next to each other.

Those are my predictions and I am sticking with them.

Price cut is all but confirmed at this point.

It's the only way SCE will come even close to reaching their 13m projection for the year. Pair that with the big reduction in production costs on hardware revisions, thinning inventory along with unexplained sales at retail and a price cut becomes the safe money bet.

This holiday will match a $299 120GB 360 with a $299 120GB PS3. I won't be surprised if the 120GB PS3 is the same one that's been floating around in spy shots for months now.

GT5 would be a nice surprise, but with GT PSP already scheduled for holiday release, I can't help but think it would effect sales of both.

Has to be ps3 slim. I have checked out stores today while I was out. No retail had a ps3 in stock and had no idea of when they are coming into stock. Some knew about the ps3 slim rumor. This is in Australia btw. Something is going on no matter how you look at it.

People, be specific damn it! There's a huge difference between a $50 and $100 price cut.
