Good, they should stay PS3 exclusive.

Ryan Schneider isn't fat.
I'm not surprised that they're staying with Sony. I'm just curious as to what they're up to over in NC...
And I can't wait for the next R&C game.
I'd like to see an RPG and/or hack and slash from them. :D
Prediction:
TGS this year for PS3 will be amazing.
Grandia comes to PSN(PSone classic).
First Versus gameplay this year.

you have a skewed idea of what independent means in this situation. |
Well can you please explain then.
Independent video game development is the process of creating video games without the financial support of a video game publisher. While large companies can create independent games, they are typically designed by an individual or a small team of as many as ten people, depending on the complexity of the project. These games may take years to be constructed from the ground up or can be completed in a matter of days or even hours depending on complexity, participants, and design goal.
Theres the link to wiki on Independant video gamers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_video_game_development
and here is the link to the list of independant video gamer deveopers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_indie_game_developers
Insomniac is on that list of indie developers. Please explain what you mean JEDE3
Notice how that link is talking about small projects and not full blown PS3 games. That link is basicallly talking about things like popcap games... some facebook application type games. Flash games. Even PSN games... which ironically Sony still financially supports PSN games.
Independent video game development is the process of creating video games without the financial support of a video game publisher. Fullstop. Thats what being an independant developer is. End of

Have a read at this link, it clearly states that Sony helps Insomniac finacially with their projects. http://articles.latimes.com/2007/nov/26/business/fi-insomniac26 Although the article is from Nov 2007, it still mentions Sony's help. Nothing left to argue really..... |
Just find the article where sony offers to put half the costs to PSN titles for small indie studios making PSN games. That was not too long ago.
This is a partial list of independent game developers, video game developers that are not supported by a publisher. They are usually self-funded small teams that operate over the Internet. They can retain creative control over the games that they make because they need not answer to an outside funder. Their games are then self-published over the Internet or, at times, sold to a publisher once it is completed.
This list is not complete. Only notable developers or developers with notable games are listed here, and only some of their games are listed. There are hundreds of other indie developers.
Thats the bit taken from the list of indie game developers where Insomniac is listed. The link is in the previous post I posted. Now look at where it says "They are usually self-funded small teams that operate over the Internet" Usually does not mean always and look at where it say's "Their games are then self-published over the Internet or, at times, sold to a publisher once it is completed." And in Insomniacs case, there games are sold to a publisher as in Sony.
