Forums - Sony - Naughty Dog has sold over 40 million units...

I'm glad people do research before posting these stories.  That figure is well over three years old and was taken from the company's "About Us" page (data was announced at E306).

"6:04 - Eight Days: Lots of guns, lots of gansters, great cinematical lighting effects, massive destruction via a gas tanker. Nothing in this game to challenge the genre of gansters and guns, but certainly a graphical update to a game type that we're all comfortable with. "Next up is a brand new game from a developer who since their first game in 1996 has shipped over 40 million units of software. I'm gonna let the video speak for itself" Shows untitled Naughty Dog game."

"To date, Naughty Dog has sold over 40 million units, totalling over USD $1 billion in sales."

Speaking of Eight Days, I really wish that didnt get cancelled.

I think Uncharted 2 will break 3 million. Since Sony won't have very many of their own games hitting the PS3 this fall (MAG got pushed back and I still don't think GT5 will make it this year). They should put alot of marketing behind Uncharted 2.

Wait, so this figure was from 2006,so that makes the 36,48 mil figure from the VGC data even more further from the actual number?

Yeah that's what I'm also wondering. Some games are definitly undertracked if that's the case.

Maybe Jak 1/2/3. I still see them on shelves selling for 9,99$.

holy crap thats almost as high as poliphony digital

Polyphony Digital have sold 50.22 million games, according to VGC. Of course, none of ND's games have come close to the sales success of the full Gran Turismo games. Though Crash was selling a good 7 million at its peak.

On another topic, GT4 was just adjusted up by a good 700k. It's at 10.36 million now, which makes a lot more sense considering the shipment.

yes, like i said, almost as high as poliphony digital

Not quite. 10 million behind. 40 million is still a really impressive number, though.

You'd think after the second time BladeOfGod said it, Kantor would have noticed that word.

I noticed it, but I wouldn't call a 10 million+ difference "almost". Did Gears of War "almost" outsell Halo 3?
