It's still hard to believe in these numbers. Sweden is by tradition a PC dominated country just like Germany, and yet nowadays the PC games share is just a fraction of the whole software market here.
Going by this news German PC market is absolutely huge, and very well-tracked, which is surprising in itself.

See but even software sales i doubt Germany is anywhere near it.
It would mean either PC sales in UK is very low and very high in Germany or mean that attach rate for consoles in UK is very low and in germany very high. Which as mentioned elsewhere considering many games get banned or a big time edited version i severely doubt it.
Yeah but UK has a game called Football manager which is probably the biggest selling PC game here. If you look at the charts your see it is still in the top 5 even after being on sale a year. It would be really interesting to see numbers as i don't believe it really. I think UK has just as good or if not better PC sales.
PC games.
Germany is getting more and more PC developer also. And germans support their developers since the game they do, are especially made for german market.
May i ask how you have seen them if they are not tracked?
Im not doubting your right but would be interesting to see what kind of numbers were talking about.
Because only a week or so ago i remember seeing the release of the PC sales report
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2009/aug/06/european-pc-sales-09q2
Which said UK sold 1.9m PC's in the past quarter while Germany sold 2.3m. Down from 2.7m the quarter before. While France sold 2.6m.
Now they are just PC's not software. But this again would lead me to believe Germany and UK are pretty much selling the same while France is obviously the clear leader. In terms of Hardware.
But another interesting thing is that Germany spent $3.8Billion on Gaming products in the past 12 months according to http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,3580736,00.html
While UK spent $5.59Billion on games. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32840/UK-games-market-worth-4bn-in-2008
So that is a difference of well over a Billion. Quite a vast amount of money.
Will be interesting to see the official numbers when they are released.

Yes, but only half (2) as many times as Sweden (4) was mentioned. Another victory for us!
