I am an admin at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Thingg ) and I completely agree with you that not allowing VGChartz's numbers (at least the HW ones) to be used is f***ing bullshit. However, I am in the minority there and a lot of people really seem to hate VGChartz. dunno why, but I can't just go around and change the rules or I would.
Also, I changed the PS3's highest selling game to GTAIV (which agrees with the numbers on vgchartz found at http://www.vgchartz.com/games/index.php?&results=50&name=&console=PS3&keyword=&publisher=&genre=&order=Sales&boxart=Both&showdeleted=®ion=All&alphasort= ) and added a citation to some random Edge article from the end of 2008.
If you want to make a case for VGChartz, I would recommend doing so at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games because you will get a lot more input
Also, if you want to be able to edit the PlayStation 3 article on Wikipedia (or any other article that has been semiprotected http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Semi#Semi-protection ) you have to register an account and wait four days and make at least 10 edits and you will be automatically allowed access. the PS3 article is semiprotected indefinitely because of the massive amount of vandalism it gets otherwise
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
