When the Slim comes out, I'll probably buy one. I am curious as to how the PS3 will handle 256 players at once.

You'll be the least of the Sony owners I mean:

PS3 60GB owners > 20GB owners > 80GB BC owners > 40/80/160 non BC owners > Slim owners. Its the bottom of the ladder, its just that sony lowered the level required to get a PS3.
