I think a price cut will be far more important to future sales than a new version.
However a slim model usually means a rejig of components and therefore pricing.
Sony may very well have no immediate price cut as some people will pay top dollar just to have the slim.
But this in turn means there will be a fair warchest available when price cut time arrives.
If the Slim launches with a ticket price that reduces the consoles cost sub 300 USD then I think it could be a game changer.
