Forums - Nintendo - DS Questions

So I am a bit of noob when it comes to handhelds. The last one I had was the Gameboy Color, and I haven't paid much attention to them since then. I would like to get a DS though, if anything else to save me from boredom in between classes this semester! Anyway, I have a few questions that I've been researching, but I'd like some of the people here to shoot me some opinions so here I go.

Is the DSi worth buying over the normal DS? It's only $40 more expensive, but what exactly are the extra perks a DSi has over a DS?

Also, what games do you recommend? Obviously, I am going to get Zelda, if anything to knock "Play a Zelda game" off of my things to do before I die list! (yeah, see I told you, total noob) Maybe Mario Kart DS as well, but I am a fan of RPGs more than anything else, so please shoot me some good titles that I can look up and research and see if I'm interested in. Thanks guys!

Get the original DS, that way you can play the great GBA games you missed.

Must-have first party games: Zelda, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., Pokemon D/P/P
Other first-party games that I like: Advance Wars, Kirby Power Paintbrush

RPGs: There are a lot of Square RPGs on the DS, and you should look at Golden Sun 1/2 from the GBA since Golden Sun DS is coming out next year. Also Mario&Luigi is an RPG for GBA and DS similar to Paper Mario.

GBA games worth looking into: Zelda Minish Cap, Super Mario Advance 1-4 if you never played the originals, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Pokemon R/S, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission

for GBA: Fire Emblem was awsome :) and there's another one for DS. both are great strategy RPGs.

There's also mario & luigi RPG games for GBA and DS, they are just lovely and oh so inovative.

I gotta say I really like my DSi, but since you dont have a GBA I say go with the Lite

Get the DS or DS Lite. DSi can wait.

I know this is bordering on heresy (especially for a DSLite owner like myself) but you might want to consider getting the iPhone. It's getting a ton of awesome games nowadays. Plus it's a phone. And sports internet access everywhere (sort of).

But if you want suggestions for DS games, I can only say that I STRONGLY advise you to pick up Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney. It's the only game I've ever played that had a story that drew me in the same way I get drawn in when reading a good book. Absolutely astounding.

This is invisible text!

Get Viva Pinata!

the difference between the dsi and ds is that the dsi has an internet browser, two cameras, and a shop channel, and its lighter than a ds lite. and the games u shud get is super mario 64 ds, pokemon since u like rpgs, mario and luigi the rpg

If you care for GBA, DSL.

If not, DSi.

Whoooaah an Iphone? What. No man no no no this wont do. The man is obviosly looking for and elite portable gaming device and you cant go wrong with DS.
I say get a DSi. Its the latest. There are games coming out that's going to utilize the camera's (like pokemon i believe) and not only that he loves RPG's like me and the DS is an RPG monster if you haven't heard.
Yeah, the DS Lite has backwards compat with GBA games but with a library of games like the DS, you don't need it.
