Forums - Nintendo - Virtual Console games are too expensive . . .

Although the price does limit the number of games I buy, I think the overall price is generally fair ...

Many of the virtual console games are still very enjoyable high quality gaming experiences that offer 10 to 40 hours of gameplay for $5 to $10, and when you look at it on a per-hour basis most of these games cost about $0.50 for every hour of gameplay.

I agree, they are excessively expensive, 8€ for a mere Super Nintendo or Megadrive rom o 10€ for Nintendo 64 games. Nintendo should lower their prices. For exemple Sony usually sells the PSX games for 5€, I think this is a reasonable price. A Super Nintendo rom cannot be more expensive than a PSX game.

theyre not fair, u got no hope of them changing and welcome to 2006

I just got Revenge of Shinobi, ITS AWESOME

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

nah VC prices are fine,

This is generally right. I got the original Legend of Zelda for five dollars and played through it the right way - drawing my own map and whatnot - and even given how simplistic the game was, it was easily an experience worth twenty dollars or more.

Show me somewhere else you can get Super Mario RPG for eight freaking dollars.

In used gameshops they sell for quite a bit more,so I find the prices fair.
Plus I also like that Wii points actually do mean 1 point per penny. XBL points makes no sense.

The charge for the download of an NES game is about the same as the shipping you would pay from an on-line vendor for the physical form of that same game.

Starting from that point, the games are a bargain.

I will be honest though, I have not bought a lot of VC games because I have the originals. Nevertheless, people need to realize that there are costs associated with these games as well as a desire to make a profit. (And because of currency to points conversions, Europe gets blasted much worse than North America in that regard).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

They seem kind of high, but what is $5 really? $5 for a NES game is great.
$10 seems kind of high for a N64 game but I guess it depends on the game.
To me Super Mario 64 deserved $10 from all the play it got from me.

Sorry I've had a gripe about the prices for Virtual Console games. They charge us $5 for Nintendo games, $8 for Super Nintendo games, and a whopping $10 for N64 games. Now if you think about it some of these old games cost more than Wii Ware games themselves, which im more willing to pay for because those are brand new games. And this goes for the games for the other consoles too like Genesis and NeoGeo.

I believe they should be Nintendo - $2, SNES - $4 N64 - $5 or $6

I know Nintendo is a business and I have VC games but I think Nintendo needs to reconsider their prices. We should make a petition. Your thoughts.

honestly, i know how you feel.
all DD is like this...and i often have trouble buying things off them due to it. yesterday i went out and bought some more original xbox games for $5 each... i can find xbox360 games for under $10 even.

its hard to justify purchases from these services....but some games are worth it.
