Forums - Gaming - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick responsible for splitting Starcraft2?

While I usually agree with Malstrom's analysis, this one is obviously his own speculation, and he didn't even try disguising it as anything else.

In another, older article, Malstrom said that:

"First of all, those who are saying that Blizzard is doing this to gain more money, or that WoW influenced them, or that Activision is telling them what to do are all wrong. Blizzard is one of the very few game companies around which can essentially do whatever they want. They can take as long as they want on a game. They can not release a game if they don’t want to. Publishers aren’t going to mess with the golden goose. After WoW, Blizzard has free reign to do anything, absolutely anything, it wants.

What we do know is that Blizzard’s developers generally have the freedom to do what they want. The cause of the Starcraft 2 trilogy is not coming from a corporate plan to rape the consumer. It is coming from developer narcissism."

I don't know what to believe, generally speaking, the article about developer narcissism is true, and the other one about Kotick being an asshole is also true.
This particular event could be explained with both, no one really knows, except Kotick and Blizzard.

But if he said that. How come he now later has said Kotick is behind it?

I LOVE ICELAND!

Because it's expedient to blame it on Kotick when you're giving out about Kotick.

So Kotick is now the object of hate by Sony fanboys...lol.

Do you ever think before you click "post"?

I've learn my posting habits from sony fanboys like you....lol.  It's interesting how all the anti-Kotick threads started AFTER his comments about ps3 NEEDING a price cut...amazing how that just coincides!

Oh you mean how him starting to run his mouth coincides with annoyed people? Yea, I see what you mean.

Oh wait, apparently people MUST only like one console and NEVER play any games on their PC.

On topic, this does make me a little concerned for Blizzard games. While I've never played Starcraft or the Warcraft games (did a 10 day trial of WoW though), I've spent countless hours in Diablo 2 and I hope that Diablo 3 comes through.

Lastly, I wonder how the Brutal Legend case was settled. I hope that they didn't have to pay out a ton of money to Activision.

Tell me again...how did he run his mouth?

Wait, you mean to tell me that he hasn't said things that have made people annoyed of him?

He didn't threaten to pull support if Sony doesn't have a price cut? Activision didn't raise the price of Modern Warfare 2 in the UK as well as the PC version here in the US? He didn't say that he'd like it if their games cost more?

All this on top of rising dislike of Activison. . . I find it hard to see how this is all just a Sony fanboy thing especially when the OP is talking about Blizzard and their PC games.

It's just amazing on the timing...he makes comments that REALLY pisses off Sony fanboys, and Activision takes over as the most hated of companies in the gaming market.  It's amazing how much "love" Valve received as well...just some coincidence there as well...lol.  A SDF is hard at work 24-7, spinning thing in anyway they can...personally, I don't give a crap about Activision raising UK prices and WRT ticking up the price for PCs...it's a business decision...these guys don't make games for charity...it's to make money!!!  HULLO...if there is demand, and if you control the supply, you can take the price up (Have you checked the price of Oil?)...here's a hint...DON'T buy the game, and go get it used...oh...wait...they are evil too...

Oh...how could I forget...have you seen the comments about Carmack for his blasphemous comments...ID's days are numbered by SDF's calculations...

Distaste for Kotick has existed for some time, and Activision took the role of Evilcorp no.1 a couple of years ago (from EA).

Kotick even gets knocked by the gaming media:

The strange thing here is that Vivendi, the company that owns blizzard, bought activision, and yet Kotick, the former member of activision, is the CEO of Activision-blizzard.

I really do have to wonder if this really has anything to do with Kotick, since the Blizz side of the company tends do whatever they want on their own.
Although, Kotick is responsible for 4kids, so I'm not trying to defend this guy... just playing devil's adovocate.
