The only problem with this 5 pounds more is that most games launch at 40 pounds and some 30. a few go to 45 but thats about it.
So really in the real World COD MW2 is going to be more like 15 pounds more expensive

which means in here its going to be something along the lines of $80-$90

jeez.

Are games in UK region locked from the US?

nope, but i live in the middle east, and here Game Support = 0% , only import stores.

and imported games cost gazillions. and if the retailer is an asshole he will sell it for a bigger price if its a popular game (like i saw GTA IV was on sale for $100 USED)

seriously, did you know how much i was disapointed when i bought the pieces of crap that is called GTA IV and Assassins (for $60 each) ?

He must have been reading the PS3 launch playbook. The average consumer may be a clueless sheep, but they don't like being treated like one. And when these companies treat people with this sort of arrogance they realise what the CEO's think of them and react accordingly.

But not enough people will react on this one, they's still sell many millions. But launch prices gotta rise some time. It'll still come down in price for those patient enough to wait.

but people ARE going to buy Call of Duty like clueless sheep.( how much people bought CoD 5 ? ... thats right. )

i seriously don't know what the fuzz about that game, its mediocre and the online isn't as fun as other games on the same genre.

the storyline is like famous movie scenes glued together, no originality at all.

Hmm... sounds like a silly idea to me, and truthfully, older gamers should see why. Those of us who were buying N64 games remember them costing $60-70 each. And even if you go all the way back to 1986, NES games still went for $50 each. That $70 N64 game bought in 1997 would go for $93.52, and the NES game is a whopping $96.91 after adjusting for inflation. Source

So even if Activision wants to raise the game to $80 in the US, it still costs relatively less than the games of yore. Sure, the sticker price is scary, but the fact remains that the cost of making games is going up faster than inflation, while the actual value being received per copy is dropping. I'm not happy about games going up in price, but I can see why it's happening. Oh, and not to mention that internet boycotts really do nothing...

Make friends with people in the US and have them send you games...heck...shipping can't be that much.

Why is it so popular on a multi-platform basis?

For the 360 they are, PS3 is region free.

Actually its up to the developer/publisher. For example Ghostbusters was region free for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
