This isn't to find out the biggest Icon in gaming, it's about people's favorites, most are icons, a lot are not but they're well known.

Why would I bother doing a thread on the biggest Icon in gaming, Mario wins hands down ...

Then surely if it was the undustry a whole, that character/icon should have been in every game type.

There is no true "gaming icon", just gaming favourites/icons for certain genres. For example, if my fave genre was FPS... Mario wouldnt be my gaming icon, Gordan Freeman probably would be. Wheras, with platformers... Mario takes it with ease.
