Guess what Super Mario Bros. 2 cost in the late 80's. It was $50.00, when the dollar was worth much more, and production costs were much less. So, get over it.

Cartridge production costs are more than CD/DVD/Blu-Ray.... so while money was saved on artists and game programmers, more was spent on re-producing the game.

In addition, the industry was young then, so pricing games lower would not have resulted in a significant increase in sales.

Oblivion was one of the largest games this gen along with FALLOUT3 and they received DLC support

I'm all for free DLC, though if the content fit onto the disc I would rather it have been there in the first place.

I have no plans to pay for any DLC ever.

I wouldn't sorry too much, raisinmg the price would hurt them a lot, but son't be surprised if one of the 2 outcomes happens next generation:

the return of the 70 dollar game

or

next systems are upgraded versions of the current one.

Well, at least the guy admits that he needs to get a life.

He has a point, though, and Kotick's comments were ridiculous. I mean, I'm already paying ~$70 Canadian (including tax) for a new game, so why should I pay more?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

This seems like a silly generalization to me.  yes some DLC is a rip, but some is just additions to the game that they put together after making the full game such as Wipeout HD Fury.  I don't understand why you would rather they wait a year before releasing so you can get it all at once and pay the same amount all at once instead of paying for the original game and the DLC.

There are some games where they really seem to use DLC as a way to suck every last penny out of people by holding back game changing features in order to make you pay extra (FFCC: MLaaK and MLaaDL) but not all DLC is like that.

If it is free, I have no problem with it... but I am patient enough to be able to wait if they could have put it on the disc in the first place... I don't usually buy games anywhere near their launch as it is.

TBH I suspect a lot of the free DLC that you get a year later is probably just ideas that were scrapped or couldn't fit in quite in time for release of the original.... things that would not take an extra year to put into the game if they were given extra time by the publishers, more like a month at most. And I wouldn't be "waiting a year" anyway as I would often not be told of the reason for any delay, or perhaps not even know there was a delay in the first place.

Free DLC I like the idea of, additional maps and such.... but it is still better to be in the original game (if it were possible of course) because then everyone gets to experience it, rather than 40-60% that have online.

AndI am very much against paying for additional content for the same game, I was considering FFCC:MLaaK ages (would have been my first FF game) ago as it sounded interesting, but I was initially put off by it's 1500 price, then decided against it as it seems half of the game isn't included in that 1500.
