2009 has become a year of few releases. There aren't many competitors for joining the top 10 left, so I'm wondering how the people of VGChartz see the rest of the year shaping.

The only upcomming title that I feel I can predict fairly is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The original (on X360) sold 4M in its first year. MW2 launches at the same time, but it has yet to be confirmed that it will launch in Europe for 2009. So, I feel the realistic prediction is 4-5M for the X360 version, and 3-4M for the Ps3 version.

I made this list for what I believe will be the sales of the already released titles (but also including CoD:MW2)

2. Wii Fit - 12-13M 
3. Mario Kart Wii - 8-9M
3. Wii Play - 8-9M 
5. Wii Sports Resort - 6-8M?
6. Pokemon Platinum - 5-7M
7. CoDX360 - 4-5M
7. MKDS - 4-5M
7. NSMB - 4-5M
10. EASports Active/CoDPs3/Dragon Quest - ~ 4M

 I'm not going to post a lot of reasoning here, as long posts seem to frighten people, so just correct me if I'm mistaken in some way.

In retrospect, I would say that I may very well have overestimated CoDPs3, and that it is unlikely to manage to beat either DQ nor EAactive

So, what titles could have a shot at entering the top 10? Remember, this title has to sell over 4M by the end of the year.

CoD:Mw2 will be best selling multiplat.
Forza 3 best selling racer.

Ah, good point. If we include multiplats, the list may be very different. By all means - include them.

Of the already released ones, this will add in RE5, which is likely to end at ~ 5.5M.

I presume you do not count Mario Kart Wii as a racer (if you do you're being silly), but Forza still seems to have a long way to go to reach the top 10, or probably even the top 20.

CoD: MW 2 - multiplat - 7 mil
Wii Sports Resort - 5-8 mil
Dragon Quest IV - 4 mil
Monster Hunter tri - 2.5 mil
New Super Mario Bros Wii - 4 mil

Those are all those game released this year that I can think of that will sell a lot.

But, if we're counting games released in '08 and before then Wii Soprts, Wii Play, Wii Fitm and maybe Mario Kart Wii could be added.

New Super Mario Bros should be higher on the list

Also Assassins creed 2 is missing

The list will contain only 1 or 2 non Nintendo platforms games that's for shure

New Super Mario Bros DS (the one on the list) has no need for being higher up. If you believe it does, MKDS would also need to be higher up.

Assassin's Creed 2 is not missing, for 2 reasons. 1. It won't make the list (single-plat wise) and 2. I only included one future release. If you had read the post properly, you would have known that.

And Susymar, it could (at least potentially) end up being 100% Nintendo platforms. If NSMBWii releases in Europe + Japan in 2009 as well (it is only confirmed for America), it could very well sell as much as CoD:MW2 (X360). If it outedges it, all that needs to happen is for EA Sports Active or Dragon Quest to beat it.

If we include multiplats, the situation will be somewhat different.

This list seems to be a joke right?

There are bound to come up a few posts like this in threads like this one. And as this guy is new, I think it's better to just ignore it completely.
