What are the costs of developing a video game for each of the systems? For example Mad World, FFXIII, L4D, and any others you know of?

Short answer

nobody knows aside from Developer/Publisher and what they release to the press anything else is ans estimate from people (most of them don't know what the hell they are talking about).



It's depends on several factors such as how many people are on the development team, how much time it takes to develop a game, if the engine was made from scratch or made from a pre made one, etc.

Madworld $5-10 million

FF13 $80-100 million

L4D $20-25 million



It's getting crazy.



^ Actually L4D is probably closer to 15M at most. They are reusing the Source engine and there isn't a hell of a lot of content (voice acting, levels, graphics) in the game.
